Rome's drinking fountains are a God send. Cold, crisp and safe. Saved me a fortune not buying water, which i am loath to do.

How much Lead is present if there is any at all in the water? I read that they used lead pipes in their plumbing system.

Where does the water come from? Spring fed? Tap water? Why isn't it shut off when not in use? I know of one fountain that's almost always running here in central California, on the side of highway 180 going to Kings Canyon National Park. It's likely for overheated radiators, and not drinking. I enjoyed the video.

When these were installed in the 1800s water treatment and testing was pretty primitive so keeping the water running was a sensible precaution. Now, it's just tradition. Not to worry, it all gets used eventually.

If the fountains were closed, water would not be so good and fresh. It's water from "aquedotto romano' the same water you have in the Roman houses. Perfect to drink, healthy and tastes good.

Water come from acqueduct. It flows continuously because in the 1800s the scientists discovered it is the best way to keep it sanitized at low cost of just loosing some extra water without using chemicals or cleaning artificially the fountains at any use (it had been unpractical) due to the fact bacteria and mold cannot adhere to steel surfaces continuously exposed to flowing water... Decor Fountains that use same water in a continuous cycle are adviced by signs that water is not drinkable... "ACQUA NON POTABILE!". Water not used is usually collected in the circuit of "gray waters" that are those that can re-enter directly in a river or into sea without purifying it, as it happens in sewer system (black waters), in order contribute restablishing the natural cycle of waters in atmosphere/land/sea... Enjoy fountains in Italy. 😀😎😘

It’s a beautiful Planning..But I also feel like, it’s wastage of water..Because it’s running 24x7...I hope they are managing well in summer season..And there is no water scarcity after wasting water throughout the year..XD

Goes in the circuit of grey waters or in the sewers depends how are connected pipelines... Grey waters return to a nearby river, sewers usually go to depuration facilities...

It’s spring water from the mountains, carried by aqueducts constructed by Ancient Rome.

Dwayne served in the music ministry for many years. He got tired of ministers taking advantage of hard working single mothers. Dwayne witnesses numerous divorces because the leadership drove a wedge between devoted families. Honest God fearing husbands losing control of there household, because the leadership played on wife's emotions, sad.

The electricity bill must be astounding! All that water must be chilled before they throw it away!!!! (don't worry, God pays the bill, i.e. it comes chilled from the mountains)

I thought this was cool--right up to the point where you touched the spout with your fingers. So anyone who just came out of a bathroom or just got through scratching their ass may walk up and touch the spout to create a "water fountain". That's disgusting.
