I am a total novice on the M32, but I can get through a service with the very basics, running sliders, playing CD Tracks for the choir, runnings mics for singers and the pastor's mic and the pulpit mic, using our bluetooth input to play songs/music from a phone, again, the very basics... however, the one thing I cannot figure out, is during the service, say I have a music track playing for the choir, and I have the choir mics on, I have the song coming through the mains, and I am balancing the music out of the monitors for the choir to hear the song... why can I not hear what the board is putting out in the headphones, so I can better balance what the audio is balanced like that is recorded on our videos we send to the local cable company each week, to show the service to folks at home. Last week, the choir's song from the CD player was swamping the choir, and I couldn't get my headphones to work, so I couldn't listen to what needed balanced... I eventually heard the problem in the audio that runs into our video equipment and was able to adjust the music down so the choir wasn't drowned out for their whole song. I plugged my headphones in the 1/4 jack in the front, bottom-right corner of the board, but I cannot hear anything. Be gentle I am a newb... what am I missing?

My church uses the Studiolive 32.4.2 AI with the Studiolive RML16AI for 16 channels over Cat5, all members running wired iem's with the mackie 8 channel headphone amp. Our Tracks go directly into the board through firewire. It's a dream come true!

In our main Worship Center we use an Avid SC 48 Venue which we love . In our youth room we run a Soundcraft SI Expression 32 which is small digital console and gets the job done. We have 2 other small rooms that use two analog top rack mounted mixers (that tilts) basic A & H 16 channel units.

Churchfront with Jake Gosselin thanks, although....we only 4 years left for our main board to be serviceable. Meaning you won’t be able to buy parts. As much as I love AVID, there are some things I don’t like about they way they do business so I am looking into some other options. Have heard some really good things on the D LIVE. But was thinking more MIDAS or DIGICO. But willing to look at the D LIVE.

Maybe you have already seen but if not: You can press 2 different layer / board layout buttons at the same time to have those be your faders. i.e. press the Input 1-8 and 9-16 bank at the same time and your faders will show inputs 1 -16. Such a great feature!

I am looking to set up my M32R in a specific way. I want my computer to be able to be heard from the USB card, I also have an external sampler (Akai MPC) that I want to go in the following two channels. I want to be able to send the audio of any incoming signal of the mixer via faders (stereo pair) to the Akai MPC for sampling without getting a feedback loop. I am using Firmware 4.02 If you could help I would appreciate it Thanks.

friend, quick question, the midas says to have an option switch-mode power supply auto ranging 100-240vac That means that it works with currents of 220 and 110 Volts without needing to change power supply or have a transformer?

Thanks for the info Jake! I've been looking at the X32 for a while now. Our church still uses an older Yamaha 01V96VCM mixer. It's digital, and it is pretty powerful, but it definitely shows its age and is rather complicated to use, especially for volunteers. I would really like the wifi and digital snake capabilities of these newer digital boards, in addition to the ease of use.
@Gkh_lx
@Gkh_lx 5 жыл бұрын
@Derek Frampton not quite. The build quality and reliability of the M32 is better than the X32... also, the sound quality is better with the M32 as it has better pre-amps than the X32... they're similar desks, but you do get what you pay for. I love the X32 considering the price, but the M32 is worth the extra money
@aholder4471
@aholder4471 2 жыл бұрын
@@Gkh_lx Biggest thing to me you're paying for is better faders. Which is worth it. I've used my friends x32 for a decade and got great results but almost all of the faders need to be redone now. We've had to do gigs using the matrix mix faders as the master fader for a few years now. It would loose tracking and the volume would keep increasing after you let go of the fader...which is super scary during a live show. Also the bus faders would turn down while flipping through different pages and would make a monitor half the volume randomly. It's the little things that make the pro series stuff worth it..if you use it a lot. If I was just gonna get one to use by myself and record through and do some gigs here and there, I'm not sure I'd spring for the extra money. I've seen shoot outs between the pres and its a pretty marginal difference. It's there but, it's not glaringly better. But the reliability of the faders is worth the extra price alone if you are really using it and gigging with it a lot.

What I'm wondering is if connecting the m32 to the m32r will allow me to send the bus feeds and FOH mix through the rack mixer (m32r) where I can have my amp rack on stage and the main console in the back and the rack mixer can send all the audio signals into the separate amps so that way I can adjust for both front of house and stage monitors independently if that makes sense

Thanks for this video. Would you recommend that we get a Behringer X32 and a DL32 (because of the Midas Preamps ) or the M32R Live + DL32. Is it worth getting the M32R Live over the X32? My concern is the length of future Software updates as I believe the M32R will likely get more years of update considering it was released 6-7 years later after the X32. Thanks

Hey bro. Loving your channel... keep up the great work. I’ve recently joined a gospel band. We started up a couple of months ago and since then we’ve been so busy with “gigs” (for a lack of a better term)... I’ve been thinking about ways to have a “easy” set up and pack down as we’re always playing at different venues as well as I.e.m’s and improving sound etc... However we don’t have the money to buy the X32/R32 and everything to go with it, but figured if we can just get the mixer 1st... it would be a great start. Which brings me to my question... Question... Can I use an analog snake with this mixer? If so, what are the disadvantages

I only have 16.0.2 (non-AI) experience, recently upgraded to an M32R. Our needs are simple live production and a couple of monitor mixes off the same board. Assuming a live mixing context - if you're sticking with the same channel count and budget, and don't want to retrain staff/volunteers as heavily - if you're used to Presonus the series III looks like an OK upgrade from 16.4.2 AI with motorised faders etc. Based on very short experience, the M32R (bit more pricey?) offers more bang for buck with more FX channels, routing 'fun' and so on. M32R transition hasn't been too hard so far. Its naming of things (buses/mixes in particular) on physical and software buttons and various bits of UI gets inconsistent and messy TBH. Depending on how much you do with monitor mixes the Presonus may still be a bit more agile and less menu-diving.

I have a friend using the Presonus 16.4.2 but no one at her church knows how to use it. (According to the internet, it's pretty much the same mixer with 16 channels instead of 24.) Is this a good quality mixer? I'd never seen or heard of the brand or mixer before about a month ago when I sat in with her around guy on her Thursday night rehearsal at her church. I actually recommend the X32 compact because it's got more than 16 channels (they're legit using 15 channels, giving them only one spare) and I know how to use it and can train get sound guy on it. What are your thoughts? If you had the option, would you keep it or get the Behringer?

Follow up...IT has been a month...and NOT without any technical hiccups. Routing became the first tech issue. If your desk is for worship, first and fore your Pastor's mic and the sermon needs to be route is a way there will be NO sharing. AS much fun as it is, mixing a live show...its NOT about the music, it's about the message, it's about the Good News. We had this routing issue rear it's head 2 mins before a service. The Elec Guitar and our Pastors mich were "route" in such a way, the system would switch Ch16 to 24; we would lose his mic for music. The follow Wed. we did a complete RE-walk of all the channels, did some routing corrections we haven't had an issue. Once you think you have it...do one more check... We have installed another digital Snake... drum kit (electronic) Roland 50KVX (8 Piece).. is now routed 17-24..each piece is controlled FOH. The drummer has his own headset and uses the app for his mix. Our bassist is plugged into a Behringer P16M Personal Monitoring System. Actually every member; vocals or musician can control their own mix via their iPhone. Ya'all will hate this part; iPhones work best with the M32-Q App...Android has to much 3rd party and proprietary crap...each worship group member with an Android has had issues, and someone else has to work their mix or they fall back to the soundboard tech...ie; get an iPhone, jus'sayn. One of our purposes for the new desk....gives 90% stage monitor control to the band...but, the Sound Engineer is in total control. with the app, it's not alway "your fault" If you have an iPad...you can actually download a digital version of the board...and mix while walking around your sanctuary or hall. you can stand on the stage and listen to the wedge monitors. Ideally, we're hoping to move all the musicians to 'in-ear monitors M32 is an amazing desk....if your church is interested in the digital desk...I highly recommend the M32...unless you have a mountainous budget or donor then up the game to Allen-Heath etc. With that said; make sure you consult the pros. interview them, get references. If they specialize in worship. they'll happily give you information, to contact those other churches. don't just ask for the icing...ask how they handled the tough situations. I'll close with this regarding professional set-up. Make CERTAIN it comes with full rehearsals and live Sunday worship gigs, so you have a solid starting point...you can save those scenes for a fall back...make sure you also save the pro set up to USB thumb drive 'just in case'. have in writing technical help, via phone and scheduling training/rehearsal time with the installer. And make sure the installer has 10yrs minimum... The company we used has been on top of every issue...our Pro, even took calls while on vacation in Europe. We Face timed a routing issue. I took pictures and he studied them, then we did a face time. There is a big learning curve...and you will experience push back from some members of the band. We all have them. They will expect you to fail so they can say 'I told you so'. Study hard, work closely with the tech. don't be afraid to try something on the board. if you've saved the scenes / Pro set-up...you can reload the "Fall Back" and it will be as if NuFF'n happened. most of all have "Sends on Fader" fun Remember; it about the Message...not about the music, God Bless
