I remember when I was around 5 or 6 I went to a local park that my dad took me to. It had a wall ball wall and it really surprised me. Turns out my uncles were local wall ball champions at one point.

this is handball, Wall Ball we played with a tennis ball, you throw against the wall and if the person who tries catch it misses or drops someone grabs the tennis ball and you have to peg them before they touch the wall, 3 pegs and you go to the wall to stand for the final peg, play with 2 or 20+ people.

Is there a reason to catch it?
@waymannoodle6 жыл бұрын
My rules are if it hits the ground first, your out. If someone catches your throw before it hits the wall, you can run to the wall, but most likely, they will throw the tennis ball at the wall and get you out. Of someone catches your ball before it bounces, your out

When I played in school, you were out the first time you got hit. 3 hits seems like a good variation (especially with fewer players), but I'd say you're just out on the third one. If you got hit after touching the wall, or if you got hit in the head, you'd get a "free lick" from maybe 20ft away (if you called "free lick" when hit... your discretion) on the person who hit you, where they'd have to stand with hands on the wall, facing the wall. If you missed your free lick, you'd have to run to the wall before getting hit by others. You'd also have to run to the wall if you threw and hit the ground short of the wall. There were no teams. It was every person for themselves, until only one was left. Multiple balls were used sometimes, when there were enough players. I'd say one ball for every 3-5 players is good. Tennis balls were usually used, but raquet balls were better. Someone needs to bring this back and make it a real thing as an adult extreme sport. If wall ball were to be made into a "real" sport, I think it should have it's own ball, specifically designed for this.

Nah bro this is different. You were probably playing Wall-Ball, where 1 person goes up to the Wall and absolutely bombs it, the rest of the players are spread out further away and have to catch the ball. If you try to catch it but you drop it, or if it hits you - you have to make a B-Line to the wall before someone else grabs the ball and either hits you with it or hits the wall (we weren’t allowed to hit each other when I played in recess). Much like in baseball, if you touched the wall before another player could beam you (or the wall) you were safe and could continue playing. If you didn’t make it, you were out and had to stand up against the wall until someone else brought you back in by catching the ball before it hit the wall, when trying to get someone else out (I think, can’t remember that much) and I think we called it an Interception. We definitely had modified rules the last time I played in like 4th/5th grade.

Went to Jr. High in a small town science class in one of those portable classroom buildings and we had wait for the teach in the gym, me and guys would play wall ball but with different rules and a tennis ball. When the came back a player had to catch it, if it was dropped or made contact with said player he had to run to the wall and touch it while other players would try to peg the player running to the wall if you make to the wall before getting pegged you're safe. Good memories.

Great day for wallhandball. Politicians involved and ample seating around the game,. Two great additions that can help advance the sport towards televised games.

I like this style much better, than the way I was brought up to learn. We used to grab the ball, and than through it. This has way more strategy. Thanks for the clip, well done.

This Is handball. in wall ball, you throw a ball on a wall with 2 to 20 players and you try to catch it. If you touch the ball and drop it on to the ground, you have to run and touch the wall before someone else picks it up and throws it at it. if you throw the ball and it hits the ground and then the wall, you're out. And if you drop the ball and then touch it again, that's a double touch, and you're out.

Damn, this isn't the wallball I knew growing up. What we had was those big inflatable balls (roughly the size of a basketball) and the objective is to hit the ball on the ground with our fists (one handed or two handed) and have it ricochet off the wall and bounce back. You were allowed one bounce to hit it again when it was your turn. Hitting it directly to the wall without it hitting the ground first was called a 'rocket'. Hitting the ball to the corner where the wall and ground meet was called a 'popper'. Hitting above the wall was called an 'up-and-over'. Hitting the ball so it slides down the wall to a popper was called a 'water fall'. The ball bounces twice either before or after you hit it was called a 'double'. All those are considered outs. It's elimination style.

These kids are just playing racquetball using their hands. I grew up in Union City NJ playing a game we called "wallsies." It was also known by that name in West New York and North Bergen but the kids from Hoboken and Jersey City used to call it "suicide." Grade school kids could play it but high school kids played it hardcore to hurt someone. You throw the ball at the wall, the ball must bounce once on the ground and then someone in the group tries to catch it. If they bobble or drop the ball or are unsuccessful in catching it, or if the ball even just touches you even if you weren't trying to catch it, the player must run to the wall, touch it, and yell "wallsies" in order to be safe. While the kid runs to the wall to be safe, another kid in the group can take the ball and beam you hard with it. If you get hit you can continue to get beamed until you finally get to the wall, touch it, and yell "wallsies." If you get beamed 3 times you are out. You must then, as punishment for losing, go to the wall, put your face and body against the wall in a "getting arrested" position, and all players get one free shot at you from a designated throwing distance. Then you go home with welts all over your back, butt, and legs. Free shots would also happen if someone broke the rules such as going for headshots or bouncing the ball against the ground rather than just letting it drop if you messed up while trying to catch it. Also if a kid threw the ball against the wall and it was a line drive and a kid was able to catch the ball before it bounced, then the kid who threw the ball was the one who had to run to the wall. Also, sometimes kids would want to play but they would avoid catching the ball cause they didn't want to get pegged. If the players noticed you were being "passive", a kid could throw the ball against the wall, say your name, and then everybody else stepped away and you had to try and catch it alone. Eventually the game would get whittled down to two players until only one remained and won the game. You could also play teams instead, in which case the winning team was the one that eliminated all players from the opposing team. There were three types of balls used: the green tennis balls stung when you got pegged with them because of the green fuzz on them. The solid pink balls hurt like heck and were heavy, the blue hollow balls hurt the least but were also very dangerous to play with because they bounced a lot and were very unpredictable when they hit the wall. There were many kids who would have black and blues on their back and legs from playing wallsies after school with their friends. It was dangerous but it was a rush to play. Some of the high school kids must've thought they were trying out for the Yankees when they played wallsies on account of how hard and fast they threw the ball against the wall. Getting beamed by one of those blood thirsty kids was no joke.
