Themes of WALL-E (2008) Living is more than surviving: the characters realize that they have to have more in their lives, something to live or work for. This puts them in conflict with the others who refuse to change and demand the dissenters fall back in line and re-enter their shell. In the end, the heroes manage to convince the whole community to leave their stifling fear and enter the world with all its risks and work for something constructive and meaningful. As a result, everyone finds that they are happier and up to the challenge. Even in the bleakest of scenarios, love and determination can renew life. People need to stand on their own two feet and take care of themselves to make a life worth living. Fighting for free will.

We believe that spiritual teachers come in all guises, and WALL-E is one of the best we have seen on the screen in many a moon! Here are a few of the lessons that he imparts to us in his relationship with EVE and in his adventures on Earth and on Axiom: no task is too boring or repetitive that it cannot be handled with care; wonder is a spiritual quality which makes everything interesting; everyone needs a love song that lifts the spirit and provides solace to the soul; falling in love is a risk that always leads to adventure and new possibilities; loving another makes us sensitive to the needs of others; picking up litter and trash is, in the big picture, one of the kindest and revolutionary things we can do to preserve the planet; inspiring others to do the right thing is one of the marks of a true hero.
