This is where our challenge begins, transforming an electrical panel cabinet into a corten rusty steel wall. Always following our industrial style.
First we take out the closet and start cleaning the wall. We remove all the fittings from the wall and the floor. We placed plasterboard and painted it with white base paint.
Our first attempt was very dark, but since we know where we have gone wrong, we will repeat the whole process, but well done.
The wall is dark brown, but that is not our objective.
We will teach the whole process from scratch and see if you like the result.
Prepare the base paste and cover the entire wall with the base without leaving any gaps to cover. Ensure that the base has a dense layer. We use a spatula and a rolling pin.
It can be seen that the color of the base paste before oxidation is very dark. Let dry for about 4 hours.
Once the base is dry, we start the vaporization of the oxidizing spray keeping a certain distance from the wall and in a random way. The important thing is that the product spreads throughout the area.
We let it dry for 8 hours and repeat the application. In our case we want the contrasts to be quite marked, as if it were really a corten steel wall.
We are reaching the desired oxidation. Here you have to be careful that the product does not drip, and for this, we dry the drops with a cleaning paper cloth.
We apply the sealer or protector, a very thin layer of the product is enough so we do not darken the oxidized paint. The sealer will protect and stop the advance of oxidation, because in addition to protecting it, it will also fix the oxidation process.
Once dry, we remove all the protection. It is important that all the areas where we do not want it to rust are well protected, since the spray ends up vaporizing unwanted spaces. Attention in the protection of the zones!
As the wall is the entrance hall of the loft, we take the opportunity to mount some basic accessories to beautify our hall.
The handcrafted fir wood console table with metal appliqués marks our industrial style.
