Wall Street Warriors are Weekend Warriors in Episode 4:
On Wall Street, when you work hard, you get to play even harder. This week, it's all about spending quality time and of course, quantity money. Tim tees off on the golf course before a night out with a model. Meanwhile, out in the Hamptons, Guy fits in some family time, and Sandra hits the polo club.
“WEEKEND WARRIORS”
TIM SYKES (Start-Up Hedge Fund):
It’s Saturday morning and I like to get a jog in the early morning, usually like a couple days of the week. Today’s a special day. I’m going to be drinking all day with my buddy, Ed, so it’ll be some drunken golf and then I have a big date tonight with a beautiful model so it’s a big day for me.
GUY DeCHIMAY (Hedge Fund Manager):
So I managed to escape for a nice weekend out in the Hamptons. The Wall Street crowd has really helped make this place what it is. This place is chock-a-block with guys in finance. It’s your crowd; your social set.
The Hamptons are about 2 hours east of Manhattan
GUY:
Everybody has kind of congregated here. There are preferences. Some people want to be in the south, some people want to be in the east. You know, they’re all beautiful. Everybody lives their own way out here. My preference is to live very nicely but not to do it in a very fussy way.
Guy spends his weekdays in Manhattan while his family reside in the Hamptons
GUY:
Most of the time the focus really is around my daughter and trying to spend as much time as I can. I don’t generally get to see her during the week because I’m in town working and, uh, everybody else is out here, so, uh, it’s really a great opportunity to sort of regroup and probably the thing that I like to do most.
SANDRA NAVIDI (Lawyer/Deal Maker):
I spend my weekends primarily in the Hamptons and pretty much everybody that I know is out there so there is a lot of socializing going on and opportunity to network.
Sandra is in the Hamptons staying with friends
SANDRA:
Networking is key to success in this business. You really need to go out there and meet people. You make yourself useful to their causes. You have to have good social skills, be a people person. It’s a constant process of giving and receiving and if you’re not exceedingly boring yourself than it’s fun.
SANDRA:
I’m very excited to be at polo today because although I go riding whenever I can, which isn’t that often in New York, I’m excited because I’ve never been on a polo horse before. I’m used to riding just dressage horses or western styles.
ANTHONY VISCOGLIO (Sandra’s friend):
We’ll get her up on a polo pony and teach her how to swing a mallot, teach her how to ride a little bit and…
SANDRA:
I know how to ride.
ANTHONY:
And see how she does.
SANDRA:
Polo.
ANTHONY:
The hardest thing you can do is stay on the horse and swing a mallot and, uh, keep ‘um, the horse.
SANDRA:
Are they too short?
ANTHONY:
No.
SANDRA:
I mean if I wear running in the country…
ANTHONY:
So, this horse is Steve. He’s about 7 years old and you’re going to love him. He’s very calm, relative to polo ponies. So, these are his rings. I’m going to teach you how to hold the polo rings. So you choose the mallots based on the size of the horse. Looks good. Put your thumb down like this. Here you go. So you’re going to use a whip.
SANDRA:
Oh really.
ANTHONY:
Be careful how you use it.
SANDRA:
A lot of stuff to hold. I have to say.
ANTHONY:
Follow me.
SANDRA:
We met through a mutual friend a while back and always stayed in touch.

How Timmy got himself onto this series is amazing. Has a meeting with a guy who makes tens of thousands per day at the bare minimum, and he tries to impress him with $500-1,000 trade. Then, Timmy played on the most low budget golf course in New York. LOL Makes a $1,000 trade then tells his friends "When it's a million dollar trade, come talk to me." HAHAHA

the thing with trading is that you can have a days of 500 profit then days of 500,000. So you can't really judge like that. Also he is literally a millionare at this point anyway, so he can talk about million dollar trades.

@@ImmaculateRecovery I day trade, so I know the ins and outs of good days and bad days in the market. He was not a Millionaire at all when he was making those trades, and I have seen nothing of him being a millionaire after the show. I just found it comical that he was talking to a guy about his gains to a guy that spends what Timmy earned on his breakfast... Now they just need to bring the show back.

I love the Russian. I ain't Russian, but I've shopped in a Russian store, for their food. They were the only one who carried what I wanted. Later on, everyone carried what the Russians carried. In the store I went to shop, I was the only non Russian. but they were so nice to me. Later on many non Russians shopped in their store, just because they were nice. Tim seems nice and funny. In fact, everyone is just being themselves. Some can forget about money, and just come back to themselves and well breathe, play or have a ball.

Plenty of truth to your comment. Having said that, the show is surprisingly accurate in showing a realistic spectrum of personalities, common challenges of managing the lifestyle of work work work. Producer of the show didn't know enough about the subject matter to dig in and get the day to day logistics of how each profession is adding value to the capital markets

I think the show is more about sparking curiousity into trading and showing the life of people in Wall street rather than focusing on teaching how to trade. I mean for teaching you have actual courses that do that and not some tv show, heck if you did a bit of research you would even find that 1 of the people in the show actually teaches how to trade if you want that and his name is Timothy Sykes.

At 19:05 Sandra Navidi implies that only people on Wall St. are goal oriented. That's not true. Plus, there's a lot of ways to make money, and a lot less stressful. Many people create startups - like shown in the vid - and get hedge fund managers to buy into them. They are very goal oriented and make money; that's one example. People that open chains of stores and restaurants often do great.

Looking in from the outside, what I don't get is... how can so many people of wealth and influence, who rely on a capitalist system... be Democrat. Why is New York Democrat? Please help this Aussie understand this enigma.
@wallstreetinsider1210

I think the majority of people working on Wall Street are Republicans. But New York is a big place and most other people in the metro area are Democrats/Independence. They overwhelme the Republicans. This is just a guess, but I suspect it's the reason.

because they are just hypocrites. Limousine liberal on steroids. In case you didnt realize - Democrats now are the party of the rich upper class whites. Republicans represented them in the 1980s. There are many socialists and communits who wish to take the system man!!! who are fully monetized on KZbin making 100,000s of $ a year. Heck communist Bernie Sanders published books which made him a millionaire but still rails against the wealthy. Corrupt rich in the late medieval era would buy indulgences from the Catholic church which cancelled their sins and pushe d them into heaven. In our post religious era, rich people indulgences are subscribing to wokeness and social justice even as they go ahead and do exactly the opposite.
