I love the narration! I think it's interesting that in the final epoch, ones things somewhat reached a stable ecosystem, we can see a few distinct species that are capable of surviving together. Meanwhile, many species which existed early on, before the presence of single-celled predators, are nowhere to be found. Early on we see a lot of creatures that grow rapidly and cover all available space, while in the final epoch, we see many "snake-like" species that grow in a straight line and only occasionally turn or branch. I wonder if a similar phenomenon happened in Earth's evolutionary history. Perhaps during the "Great Oxygenation Event" when the first oxygen-producing organisms evolved and nearly killed all life on Earth.

You need to bring this to a bigger scale. Something crazy like 2^14 x 2^14 (16384 x 16384), and if your computer can't handle that, then try to turn this program into something that runs on your GPU. I would also love to see you give different species names, and write a little program that makes a chart of how they evolve, or just a table of how they evolved and you turn that into a chart. Then we could see what exactly happened as far as evolution is concerned, and as you would go through the events that took place on the massive grid like you did in this video, you would keeping referencing back to that evolution diagram to show how the evolutionary pressures made the different species evolve into others.

Also shifting sectors was confusing sometimes and it would be great to be signalized somehow. There's a game called "biogenesis" which is similar in principle. Organisms are formed from chains of lines of different colours. Different colours have different functions (e.g. red is predator, yellow is reproductive, green is photosynthetic) and the different structure of different lines (what colours are present, and angles and symmetry) determines how organisms react. I have a simulation running which is currently dominated by creatures I call "cube trees", a square photosynthetic organism which reproduces like a virus by infecting herbivores that try to eat it (similar to how real world plants spread their seeds by producing fruit that herbivores eat). Herbivores are W-shaped, fast, and mostly omnivorous (cannibalistic), though some are pure herbivores with virus resistance to feed on cube trees more effectively. Pure predators are rare, when they emerge they are mostly static with a wide web of filaments, like an anenome, and eat any herbivores that bump into them.
