I went to that Macy's Furniture Store back in 2011 or 2012 due to its interesting architectural design. It never really had that many customers, then again it's a furniture store. The Main Macy's was a Kaufmann's built in 2005-ish, and the Blue Brick structure was briefly occupied by Macy's before they merged with Kaufmann's. It was previously a Lazarus.

Used to work in that building when it housed the clearance furniture store & the Columbus District Office. It was Lazarus first, then Lazarus-Macy's, the Macy's. The building is OLD. Wish you could see the bathrooms inside. The offices I worked in were more modern, then you walked through a door and stepped onto the sales floor & it was like you stepped back into the 60's/70's.

Yes. It was Lazarus before Macy's bought them out. This particular furniture store was amazing. I purchased my parents a member of Tiffany lamps from here. My sister and I even went through the Macy's drivers Ed classes. They had absolutely fantastic clearance items. This was one of many iconic locations in Columbus. It has been closed for a year to date. Thr Eastland Mall across the way is another iconic location. Great times....Great memories 💯

This place would make a cool restaurant. Would make a cool 60's themed restaurant.

@Alpha Omega For the aesthetics. Doesn't matter about people being teens from back then. Matters about if the food is good or not.
@RammerSTi3 жыл бұрын
@Alpha Omega I still say this would be wrong. In Waverly, Ohio, there is a 1960s themed diner. It still operates to date and is packed. They don't have any part inside of them that plans to close it.

Yeah that store closed last year, in fact my wife and I bought our bed room set there several years ago. They had really nice stuff and it was not too expensive.

Lazarus was the anchor at that mall that became Macy"s. So that may have been Lazarus" furniture store. When I was a student at OSU in the early 90s, Eastland was one of the best malls in the area and Lazarus was an anchor at the mall.

Helicopter is cops, Columbus runs a lot of birds. The store was Lazarus furniture before Macy's (purchased Lazarus). Macy's/Lazarus was an anchor store in the Eastland Mall. Columbus had 4 big malls in 80's - 90's Northland, Eastland, Westland and Southland.

Back in 2017 I visited Eastland and saw this place. The Macy's at Eastland was already closed, so I think I just assumed their Furniture Clearance store would therefore be closed as well. Guess I was wrong!

I wonder if this was a grocery store to start with, before Macy’s; out here in CO where I am there’s a building that is similar to this-once was a Safeway, then a furniture store, then a business-equipment place until about 18-24 months ago, then about six months ago it opened as some kind of either building-supply place or such.

There is an empty toys r us about 1 mile north of there and an old mill with a bunch of train tracks. South from that Macy’s location is the old Kmart warehouse they are refurbishing now. The mall had Sears, jc penny and a Macy’s. They furniture store Macy’s and Macy’s in the mall were both open at the same time, Macy’s in the mall closed 4 to 5 years ago but thee furniture store was open till first lockdowns started.

There's so much on Hamilton there. The old Kohl's, Staples, etc. The Saraga International Market that never opened. Front Room. Hechingers. And on and on. What about Sofa Express down past 33?
@dan82203 жыл бұрын
@@elliotfineberg9503 oh yea that sofa express went out bout 4 years ago and sat empty for a while then CWI Gifts came in and fixed it all up. They built 2 massive warehouses behind the old Kmart DC another 2 massive warehouses between s Hamilton and gender road. And that old golf driving range by 33 is now got a moo,moo car wash an Aldi and huge apartment complex!

Goldsmith Lazarus bomache Broadway and Bloomingdale's are all Macy's corporation they were under the federated corporation name many years ago there was many stores in other states there were Macy's then each state had like a Broadway a Lazarus Goldsmith or a bomb or Shay which was a part of the corporation and in the mid-90s early 2000s they started taking all those name labels and making them one Macy's and that is the Macy's Midwest region you're in I'm in the western region I was an employee for Macy's West but Macy's Riverside the West included all of the stores in Southern California Oregon Washington Nevada and Arizona that was the west region and the Midwest region was stored in South Dakota North Dakota Minnesota Michigan Ohio and Idaho region then you have the Northeast region which is all the Northeast stuff then you have the southwest region which was Florida and all those places then you have the lower Midwest region the west region or the south west region as they would have called it which was Texas which was Oklahoma Tennessee and things like that they were all under the federated name and brought together early 2000s because when they bought out Robinson's May here in California it was Robin's Brothers had bought May company and called it Robinson's May and when Macy's corporation bought it when I worked for them it was just called Macy's and that corporation was done with except for us incorporating some of the brands they might have sold to keep some of their customers so that's a little bit of the history and did you know that two of the original people who started the Macy's corporation were on the Titanic when it sank and they ended up dying so that's your bit of history
