Sad to see another classic Pizza Hut building close down. I live in Fredericksburg VA, and there was one of those buildings along the route to my grandparents house at an intersection of US 1. A new building was built half a block down the street and the old sat empty until this past January when it was torn down to build a new Royal Farms gas station. I was saddened to see it go cause I always love going to buffet as a kid, and later learned that not only did my mother helped to open that location back in mid-70s she later met my father there.

Of course it's a vintage pizza hut, depending on the insurance the owners have and if the trash service pays they might either tear it down and start over or gut and rebuild. I wish those lights could be saved too, that sucks. Great video

This place had a fire before like back in 1999 and was down for repairs for a while. Now it had a fire again but they demolished it this time. I don’t know if someone is buying the land and building something else or what.

There was an abandoned McDonald's in Springfield, MO located on Sunshine Street that was shut down due to a kitchen fire which I believe happened in late 2018. It was abandoned for almost a year until it was demolished then rebuilt.

Where I live in Louisiana all of the Sit and dine in Pizza Huts closed a long time ago. Now all we have is small take out and delivery locations.

The cables that were snagged by the dumpster truck are service drop cables to a building, but the Pizza Hut's electric meter has two conduits coming up from the ground, which suggests that the service drop cables to that building are underground. Google Street View is clear enough to see, on the 2018 view, a service mast on the Pizza Hut that those cables connected to, but on the 2016 view it isn't there. Did the underground cable go bad and someone's half-ass solution was to run an overhead cable without taking into account the dumpster?

Those Pizza Hut stained glass lights are likely from the early-mid 70s and there will be an inner globe shade covering the light bulb in those. Hadn’t seen one of those a long time in their restaurants. Another Pizza Hut thing I liked is when they had those red plastic glasses for your pop. Wouldn’t mind a set of those.

Yum either needs to do something to turn Pizza Hut around, sell it or spin it off into its own firm. They can't just let it die, that would be shameful. They made the right decision to sell Long John Silver's and A&W back in 2011 due to struggling sales, they need to do the same thing for Pizza Hut.

Yeah, with the jungle that is pizza chains out there nowadays, it doesn't surprise me at all to see Pizza Hut struggling the way it is now. It seems like very little dine-in locations of them left, so much so that most of the locations I see are just the carry-out/delivery locations. When I was just vacationing down in Florida this past week in Naples, I remember seeing a dine-in Pizza Hut along one of the main drags in those parts (US-41/Tamiami Trail), but it didn't have any signage on it, leading me to believe it was closed.

I’d like to think that, because the damage was done by an accident with the garbage truck, the garbage company’s insurance is involved. Will they pay for repairs, or will the place be written off and auctioned? That would be the big question. Also, I looked up the Pizza Hut lights, they seem to sell for $500 on Ebay.

It's too bad Pizza Hut is not doing good. They closed four of the old school locations near me. Sadly we only have two left. It boggles my mind that Papa John's and Domino's is responsible for the demise of Pizza Hut when in my opinion Pizza Hut is much better than them.

I remember the old Pizza Hut in my town used to be similar to this building but a car crashed into it. The moment was surreal because I actually rode by and saw the car just sitting there. They actually fixed it up, put new brickwork over the area of the building affected, and they even reopened the next morning (with a tarp over the part of the building that was hit). I loved eating there but it closed a little while back and was replaced with a Delivery location.

A shame that Pizza Hut turned into Fast Food Pizza and it just doesn't have the same taste used to have when they had the big oven and atmosphere like this. I'm from Butler and I doubt this location will reopen. There is only enough business in this city for one Pizza Hut. I will say that the Days Inn hotel across the street is a good place to stay. They have an awesome breakfast for a hotel, still have smoking rooms, and a pool. There is also a bar/ restaurant in the hotel. The bar used to be bumping back in the day but now is pretty dead. They also cater and have some pretty nice halls for weddings and other events. Thanks for doing these videos buddy, they are pretty interesting.

I remember those pizza lights as well. I was very little. The only Pizza Hut that has a building just like that is in my hometown. There is 2 where I currently live but one is built inside a plaza and the other is only take out and drive thru just most Dominos and Papa John’s. Like you, Pizza Hut is ok but not great. I don’t like how their dough is spread with butter making it so greasy that you had to ask for extra napkins to wipe your hands.

This building is done, it's going to be torn down after the insurance payment comes on the building. Pizza Hut has been moving out of buildings this size, and erecting smaller buildings, and this one will be torn down, and likely a small building will replace it. They'll get part of the money for construction from insurance, and can then write off the building with depreciation (new buildings get 40 1/2 years for depreciation). These factors alone are why this building has its days numbered. It's old, and the reason for the boards is because insurance requires it. They've also begun clearing out whatever they want to save, so you can try calling corporate, but you may not want to ask about the light, you may want to see who they're using for demolition, then contact them to find out the day/time, then find out if they'll let you get a light.
