Very glad to hear you talking about the camping /survival /bushcraft items that are out there for sale with a price tag that all can purchase to get jobs done. You deserve a thumbs up on these videos, makes less fortunate folks part of the group. Thank you, i thought I may be had to do similar for those less fortunate, most videos on you tube seem to be for the rich and most popular items with a big name.

Ozark Trail has some suprise wins sometimes! Definitely liking the budget/walmart reviews. I am always leery of their stuff, but like you said cost effective car kit saw for sure!

harbor freight has a folding saw for less than $9 ive had it for 3 years and it hasn't let me down. but any saw that actually works and dosent cost an arm and a leg is worth having. just thought I would throw that out there for you guys
@clarkeugene57277 жыл бұрын
AWH, I full heartedly agree with you. If we keep in mind the limits of a tool it should not fail. Take your time when cutting and prevent it from binding up, you should accomplish your chore in due itme. At this price, a person would do well to purchase two of them, keep one as a back up.

Ozark Trail may be cheap, but it's still a very good quality brand. Almost all my survival gear is Ozark Trail. I trust that brand a lot.

I liked that you are also on the lookout for budget items. I doubt that this saw can hang with my Corona 10" folding saw, but it did seem to perform for the price point. I really enjoyed that you also showed use of a ferro rod with it. Thanks brother!

I have 2 folding (pruning) saws from Dollar General that I've had for a fee years. I only paid about $5-7 & hasn't let me down yet. Check them out too during the spring time when they have the garden stuff in at Dollar General.

I bought one of those Walmart $9 folding saws. Worked great!, until I started to cut pecan wood. It still does the job. but this saw is more for temporary use rather than long term.
@extremecampictures8 жыл бұрын
Nice review!! Can't beat the price and it's always good to have a little saw for rescue situations, wood gathering, and making little things out of big things... it's also an ugly self-defense weapon that keeps most aggressors away... like a beard does.

Pretty capable! I'll stick with my Silky but can't argue that is a very good saw for the money! Happy Thanksgiving!

The Silky saws are such energy savers and can cut your saw time by the end of the day in half . That is worth the price

What about the longevity of the blade (steel quality & heat treat?) Just like Chicom counterfeit ESEEs, Spydercos and Benchmades to name a few they may look similar but quality of steel reveals there shortcomings. Good to know though for folks that need something cheap and now but a $20 Bahco still seems to be the best value.

I remember I had to get a saw a while back in rush because I was gonna go on a camping trip in 1 day with my scouts and I bought this cheap thing and honestly I still use it today, I’m thinking of stepping up to a silky but I’m happy with this one even though it may look trash compared to a bohco
@garyminick10505 жыл бұрын
For the price I don't think anyone can beat a Corona. Its almost as fast as a Silky for a third the price. Ps I have had all these saws Silky is the best but Corona is right up there with a Silky as far as saving energy. At 70 years old I look at the energy savings first .
@raphaelbeinhauer92428 жыл бұрын
For 9 bucks I recommend the coghlans sierra saw. same sized blade but lighter and more compact overall. Or spend 20 bucks on the bahco or corona razor tooth.
@gatordelraysurvival55918 жыл бұрын
I'm looking for a really good halfway decent folding saw I'm really torn between the bahco laplander or The Wicked with sheath which is the better of the two

I know a bunch of deer that would happily protest the efficiency of this saw in cutting shooting lanes, I don't know if I'd go on a 30 day backcountry survival challenge with that as my only big wood processing tool, but it sure punches above it's price tag
@JS-sj4xd4 жыл бұрын
This saw is dull from Day 1. It is the same sharpness as the 17-year old Corona saw I was trying to replace. So now I have two dull saws.

I have one the only thing that I don't like about it is that the blade lock slips open when cutting. So far it hasn't caused an accident or something. So be careful when using it.
@robertwillis40618 жыл бұрын
these 'saws' also make a pretty good slashing weapon. True a combat knife would be best, however getting slashed by one of these is gonna rip a big bit of skin off

The one question is to me, is it a saw that cuts on the pull only because those cut on the pull only saw have been proven to be much faster getting the job done. I don't see that being answered here ?

Hey man I just picked up a Mossy Oak 4 piece dress kit that had a Gut hook knife with sheath, A skinning knife with replaceable blades, A bone saw...and a head lamp. Its supposedly for processing game. Im going to probably do a video on it in my back yard at some point but these gift sets as an option for budget survival might be a video idea. Being its around the holidays and we all like to save money. The 4 piece kit was 20 bucks. I bought it for the deal. Im in the market for a decent budget camp saw though. Didnt have much faith in those wal mart products for a saw till I saw this this. No pun intended. BTW how was that SOG in the link?

I noticed this saw at Walmart and thought that it would be junk for $9. Thanks for the review and it looks overall good. I was thinking about trying the Silky to possibly replace my Bahco. Maybe this would be a good test for the price. Happy Thanksgiving!
@truemark58998 жыл бұрын
uptrail71 I haven't tried this one yet, but love my silky.... cuts through wood like hot butter. and in think they are more like 30ish instead of "60"$
@wolfie4988 жыл бұрын
I would say keep the bahco in your survival kit for long term and reliability and get a silky for everyday (easy peasy lovely to use) but that's just me. I think the bahco will last longer even though it's cheaper. Ask me again in a few years and maybe I'll change my mind lol. Happy camping :)
@uptrail71698 жыл бұрын
I heard that the silky blades cut faster, but some people say that they are known for breaking. I would still like to try it even though my Bahco has proven to be a good saw.
@wolfie4988 жыл бұрын
+uptrail71 You sound like someone that loves a bargain. Silkys are fantastic but they can break and replacement blades are expensive. The bahco Laplander is the one I would have as the failsafe. I also have banco bucksaw blades and if necessary I can make a 24" (I think) saw from a couple of branches and a bit of ingenuity. This is the beauty of KZbin! Have a look at karamat wilderness ways. Gotta stoke the fire now, it's getting cold. Peace :)

Anybody that has used a good folding saw isn't going to be impressed. It's dull out of the packaging and slips around on the wood rather than biting. Maybe I got a defective product.
