In this video we wake up in a parking lot after spending a few days in Parc national de la Mauricie in Quebec, Canada. We drive most of the day to arrive in Ottawa, Ontario and pull into a Walmart after sundown. We overnight at the Walmart then head to Algonquin Provincial Park the next day. The highlight of our visit to Algonquin was our hike to Maple Leaf Lake where we overnighted right on the lake front. It was a really special trip. Thanks for being here!
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.
Thanks for watching!

Wow. I've NEVER seen so many overnighters at Walmart! Because of the huge number, I'm surprised that particular Walmart continues to allow it. And what a GEM of a campsite you found at the lake. Beautiful! (Nice looking freeze dried peas and carrots, LOL)

Some Walmarts are on popular routes and they are smart enough to allow RV overnighters, since they spend a lot of money in their store. In the cities ,not so much. Probably had too many problems with RVers that are practically homeless and once they move in ,they are hard to dislodge. I've seen this happen and those bad apples make Walmart close their stores for overnighting. It is different from store to store. In Tucson AZ is there only one Walmart that allows overnighting and for only one night. After the second night you get a note on the windshield that you can come back again in 30 days time.
