Speaking of Walmart, they need to put more frickin cashiers in the buying isles. The lines always go into the clothing sections due to how long they are...

I worked inside of an Amazon warehouse before and it truly is Spirit numbing. They stress the importance of making rate and will gladly give you a mark up, or move you to a different role where you’re left until you quit or get fired. Most quit. The long hours and little contact with the outside world, followed up with near insane expectations and lame pay...makes it a crushing place to work. If anyone is considering working there, please make sure to use it as a stepping stone, and not a final destination, as it will eat you alive.

Ali Labeeb Alkoka: In a perfect system, yes, but self-checkout theft is a big issue for retailers. Unfortunately, dishonest customers will shamelessly scan a candy bar and then put a wireless speaker into their bag when they think no one is watching. Self-checkouts are becoming increasingly more expensive with added deterrents and cameras being used.
@alilabeebalkoka
@alilabeebalkoka 6 жыл бұрын
CT I am aware if this. I install Self-check lanes for a living. That is why there is a sensor scales installed in the baggage are. The alarms go off until you remove the items that are causing the issues. Plus there are some stores that do not qualify for self checkout lanes for that very reason do to high levels of stealing product from the stores. I am aware of all the weaknesses. Basically they will end up hiring a group of people to check your cart at the door similar to Sam's club receipt checkers already do. So it will have measures in place for these things. No can all stealing be prevented of course not but it does not mean that it will stop people from improving the customer service experience. Also the benefits of the self checkout lanes out weight the cost including stealing

I like Ebay better than Amazon because Amazon says "free shipping * " as their shipping price instead of being up-front with you. Its not until after you have entered in your payment and shipping info and are on the very last step of check-out that you discover "free shipping" was actually "free shipping * " that extra shipping charge just kinda got slipped in there. It seems kinda bait-and-switchy to me. I can't trust Amazon not to tack on scumbag levels of shipping charges added onto my orders and don't want to go all the way to the very last check-out screen to be sure or not.

My first job that wasn't working for my parents was at Walmart and it remains the worst job I've ever had. During orientation I mentioned I am colorblind and asked that they not put me somewhere where that would be an issue. They ended up putting me in apparel, which happens to be the most color coordinated part of the store. That was frustrating on it's own, but there wasn't anything I could do about it since management was incredibly hard to get a hold of and I spent the vast majority of my time unsupervised with almost no instruction. (Side note: the training videos treated Sam Walton in the same manner as a cult treats their founder. It was very bizarre)

I work at Wal-Mart and I'm seeing less and less people working there. Pros, the "bad" employees get weeded out leaving customers with better ones but unfortunately also leaving them with less cashiers, people answering phones, help in the isles, etc. I see more and more self-check out lanes and more employees advertising online and grocery pick-up (unknowingly helping get rid of their jobs). It's quite interesting seeing the changes from the inside.... for now.

I shop with both when I can afford and have the need. Walmart physical stores have far from everything especially when it comes to niche items like comic books, old video games, quality shoes, certain sporting goods etc. But sometimes it’s easier just to run into Walmart instead of waiting 24-48 hours for a delivery. Amazon has everything but the prices are not ALWAYS right, and sometimes I need to touch things before I buy them. There will always be certain things that you just never buy online (ie clothes and shoes) just for the convenience and accuracy.

Unlike Walmart, Amazon has no jugular. Not only is Amazon a rapidly evolving World marketplace, it has placed the entire world market at the fingertips of every consumer. you see, Walmart is not only competing with Amazon, but with every consumer (and competitor) in the world. If Walmart fails to open it's doors to it's competitors it will eventually be consumed by them...

I worked for Zappos, which is owned by Amazon, in their fulfillment warehouse, and they refused to pay me. We were supposed to get paid every week, but I didn't get my first three checks. Whenever I would tell a manager about this, they'd say, "Is that a big problem?" I finally quit because I didn't want to keep working for free and it had been a month without pay. I got my back pay months after quitting. So, hearing that they have treated other workers poorly didn't surprise me.

In regards to the ethics portion of the video, I work at a Fulfillment Center in NJ (EWR8) for Amazon and I've never been met with a disrespectful manager or felt like I was being overworked. The people at my location are extremely patient, nice, and helpful. And not only that, they listen to their employees and are always available to talk one to one. It doesn't stop there, the wage we are paid is $13.50 which is well beyond minimum wage. No matter what this video says about Amazon, I stand behind them because they are going in the right direction in terms of technology and work ethics. Edit: Safety is also our number one priority!

I work for Walmart. I'm actually on my lunch break as I'm typing this. I've been with the company for 4 years and believe me when I say it's the worst company to work for. The only reason I'm working here is cuz theyre the only ones that called me back. The company only cares about money and keeping it to itself plus the way they train managers is disgusting.

As a cashier at a US Walmart, it is my entry level job of choice. I get a break every 2 hours, they are very flexible with my school schedule, and the work environment is just fine. I earn $11/hr (before taxes). Although I am very glad I will be entering the teaching field in a few years and not cashiering the rest of my life, for an entry level job, it is not bad at all!

Cameron Gooch where would you get it from circulation? You would have to take it from the rich, but wouldn't work because if you were just talking money from people that worked all their lives and gave it to poorer people then nobody would work.

People saying Amazon will wipe out a Walmart...no. People still love or prefer the satisfaction of getting things in person because you can see the product and get it immediately. And plus if you need something like milk or eggs or diapers who would want to wait a day or two for that to arrive?

I’m a amazon worker and yeah it’s true For the 10 hours we work we get three breaks two 15 minutes and one 30 minute lunch time.after working for 2 and a half hours. But the sad thing is it takes around 4-5 mins to get to the break room so at the end the 15 minutes are only 5 minutes of sitting down And then the 30 minute lunch time. The lunch canteen is located on the 2nd floor, I worked on the 4th floor so it took around 6 mins to go to the canteen and get food and it took the same time to get packed lunch from floor 1 lockers. So at the end you only got around 16 mins of lunch time And for the first few weeks they tell you to work faster everyday and will keep on telling you if you’re work rate isn’t 100 percent (250 items per hour). And if you do get a good rate they don’t really tell you about it unless you had the best rate on the whole floor which are usually the more experienced ones.

I worked for Walmart for less than a month. They told us that the store was less than half staffed and that we had to do twice the labor of a single employee within raise in pay or other compensation.

Walmart will win even though I love Amazon and an Amazon Prime member for a long time. Problem with Amazon is over time they use your buying behaviors against you and the “free shipping” and “prime” benefits fall behind the actual savings. Walmart has the infrastructure and can turn the lights on all e-commerce systems at any moment. Also remember that Walmart became the leader in the market for implementing state of the art POS systems back in the 70s.

I currently work at a Walmart changing peoples oil and tires, and it’s a pain in the ass to get any kind of benefits raises or anything from the company. Walmart is so focused on making money from you and if you get hurt you’re pretty much fired. So personally I kind a hate Walmart but I’m desperate for a job so I have to tough it out.

I have worked at both companies because I really like both of them. Amazon was crazy and unless you’re already physically fit enough then it’s hard to keep up, but you worked three to max four 8 hour all nights. Whereas Walmart immediately thrusts you into 8 hour a day 5 day a week schedule and is great so long as your use to operating efficiently that long that often still/already

I worked for Wal-Mart for 4 and a half months, after my 3 month probation period people said I stuck around a lot longer than other 2nd in stock employees. They'd have 3 of us unload a whole truck and expect us to do it within 2 hours and than sort it all.
