Mr. Loevy I must say this video is the best time period and geographical representation of my childhood railroad memories. Growing up in the D.C. area I got alot of these same images in my memory bank. Thanks for posting! Subbed!👍

0:20 That’s Conrail B36-7 #5044! It was involved in that chase Maryland collision if I’m not mistaken!

I've been to the famous Horseshoe Curve a few times with my family. It's one of my favorite railroad landmarks of all. Of course the trains on that former Pennsylvania Railroad line are now operated by Norfolk Southern since it bought out Conrail back in 1999. One time I was there. I saw Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit #8099 in charge of an eastbound crude oil train. The GE Unit was an ES44AC diesel in the green and white Southern paint scheme. I'll never forget that day.

Yes, those kinds of catches are what make railfanning a real joy!

Sad fact is 5044 was involved in the chase Maryland wreck of January 1987. She survived along w 5052 but 5045 was torched along with 900 and 903 from Amtrak

@@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos also JFYI 3394 and 5017 were totaled in the Thompsontown wreck of 1988. Sadly happened exactly one year after the chase Maryland wreck
