This is a great breakdown of Walt Disney’s strategies as a storyteller. Adding this to our February 2020 Art of Storytelling Playlist.

Hey, Danny. Thanks so much for this video. Of ALL the countless hours on storytelling videos I've watched, you've succeeded in making the simplest to follow. Other storytelling, screenwriting, and copywriting videos I've watched all come together and make even more sense thanks to your simple model. Really appreciate this. Take care.

Nice research work,friend! Wow, what a universal concept that we all desire to be part of something bigger than ourselves! Knowing people want to belong to each other and that we all have a sense we are special/unique and have this compelling desire to love and be loved, is insight that can make a serious person a great storyteller! Thanks for video, you have yourself a new subscriber!

Good video Danny! You are probably getting to it in the series, but consider adding take-home points at the end of the next video on ideas to incorporate the themes into our own storytelling -- blog posts, videos, photo albums, etc.

Thanks pointing that out David, I actually cut that part of this video due to length. (It felt redundant). I'll make sure to prioritize a recap with specific takeaways in the next one! (It is suggestions like yours that help me improve! Thank you)

Sorry man, but Walt Disney died before Aladdin was made, so all of your points involving that film don't really work. Also, the story of Snow White is less about Snow White "finding friends" and more about virtue -- of the dwarves and the prince for Snow White -- triumphing over the queen's narcissistic evil. Snow White finds belonging by being genuine and selfless. The evil queen is so obsessed with an outward appearance of beauty that she turns rotten from the inside out. As for Pinocchio, he wants to be a real boy, but the so-called "friends" he finds on his journey don't help him become real. They lead him in the total wrong direction -- every effort he makes to be real takes him farther and farther from what he desires. It's only because the man who made Pinocchio -- Geppetto -- goes, finds, and rescues Pinocchio that the puppet ever becomes a real boy.

You could've included some of this in your presentation Launch Digital Marketing yesterday! I love me some Disney and always wanted to be an Imagineer. If you go to the Magic Kingdom I highly recommend the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Thats when you will learn the whole story behind the park.

Wait... It's odd how Mickey never had a definitive movie. However this does make sense, he's supposed to remain ambiguous as the company's mascot.

I`ts not like Walt Disney wrote all those fairy tales... I mean I get your point but I can't really take it seriously because you strengthen your points with with kind of false facts.. Those Storys are old.. Most of them from the "Gebrüder Grimm" So following you, those guys are the true Storytelling genies and Walt just a thief... So I guess you should have told it more from the angle of what is Walt Disney doing to those stories how is he telling them... I know I'm a bit weird with this but sometimes I thing small difference in how you explain or say stuff has a huge impact on the actual matter.. ;-)
@dannydover

+Dalia Hochbach You are absolutely right that many of the early Disney stories originated from Gebrüder Grimm but keep in mind that those are not the stories that the world knows (those were much darker), it took the storytelling skills (and recrafting) of Disney and his team to make them the world famous stories that we know today.
@Omegaroth666

Dalia Hochbach Walt streamlined the ideas portrayed in the earlier stories, so the were more easily processed by more people.

😡Walt was NOT a thief! He DIDN'T steal anything from the Brothers Grimm. Walt Disney IS a true storytelling genie alongside them. So what if he didn't write all those fairy tales? He's still a visionary, a storytelling genius.

A mouse is "creepy and disgusting and gross"?? Such a delicate, courageous little creature, whose type was on this planet millions of years before humans arrived? Check out the latest newspaper's front page, and the nearest trash dump and oil slick ... then tell us again which species is creepy and disgusting and gross.

Disney was a horrible man to his animators, his early cartoons contained many racial stereotypes and some your examples came from mostly folklore or came after his death. Disney didn't even make mickey mouse it was Ub Iwerks. Try again man.

😡That's NOT true. Walt was NOT a horrible man. He wasn't perfect, and he can be a strict perfectionist, but he was NEVER horrible. While his early cartoons contained many racial stereotypes, that DOESN'T mean that he was a racist himself. Walt Disney DID create Mickey Mouse. Mickey was Walt's OC. It was Ub Iwerks who helped create Mickey's physical appearance. Both of them made Mickey.
