Those were the days when cartoons weren't just easy entertainment for the kids, but also had a lot of irony, satire and hidden messages that adults as well as children enjoyed watching ;)
@AvengerII3 ай бұрын
Theatrical cartoons were NOT made for kids back before the 1960s. The advent of TV in the late 1940s caused animation to be dumbed down when theatrical animation was bought as fodder to fill gaps in programming schedules on TV. This is around the time many old animated shorts began to be edited or exiled from view altogether. They recently restored a bunch of Tex Avery MGM shorts and released them on Blu ray in 3 volumes. There are at least 6-7 shorts they didn't re-release because they don't think any of us are adult enough to handle them! It's so stupid... I see modern live-action entertainment that is routinely more tone-deaf and far more prejudiced and lame than the worst "racist animation. These decisions on what NOT to re-release are made by the same committees that have been running Hollywood into the ground for the past 2 decades!!!

When I watch these cartoons as an adult, I see that to me these cartoons are still emotional and don’t have a satisfying ending like the ugly duckling. Had the worst kind of OK ending ever I liked how he got a new family that was genetically similar to him, but the dark thing is that the other family that had the duckling was pretty racist because no one liked the duck for his look, but at the end he finds a family who does except him for who he is and they all leave together that may seem like a good ending but when you listen to the music and all of the events that lit up to the ending, it doesn’t make the story satisfying. Sometimes it makes you think of what is the future for Lambur well Let’s just say Disney didn’t make it in the box office this year if you know what I’m saying RIP, Lyons and kings L O L

Doublepostin' One curious thing to notice, nobody notices a normal lion all the time, even with it's roars. Yet they do notice it after 10 seconds of showing up social skills. Afterwards, he's captured and shown up in a zoo. I cannot help but think of this animation, even if it's a good part of my childhood, as misleading education. Doesn't promove the social acceptance to different people. D:
