Walter Brennan Was The Most Evil Man in Hollywood
More than 50 years after his death, the nearly forgotten memories of Walter Brennan are relived in the minds of all who hear of him, although not for palatable reasons. Known for being the first actor to win the Best Supporting Actor Award three times, Walter’s versatility in his movies and his resilience to push forward have been his notable traits, however, his controversial views are what he’s infamous for today. How did a beloved actor come to be known as the most evil man in Hollywood? Let’s find out!

No, he was not evil except by today’s cancel culture standards. He was a man who stood by his principles, right or wrong. At least he wasn’t a phony, as so many in Hollywood are and have been.

My my, if Brennan was evil--just think how many "evil" people there are in this world. Sure would like to see his old movies in TV because he was a great actor.

A product of his time. Born in mid-1894, his views perfectly reflected the vast majority of Americans, North, South, East, and West, through the next century and at least the first quarter of this one. My own Southern born and raised grandmother held similar beliefs, though not as virulent nor outspoken. Yet, her children and grandchildren saw the lie for what it is.

Well I would not call him EVIL just because of his personal feelings towards skin color or political /social views. On some I agree with him. He was just honest and free to be open for what he wanted. Should not real freedom let every human to be this way??? Do I have to like what you like??? Definitely not.

Brennan was a man of his time. A racist today may have been a red-blooded American of the past. You can trust a man who speaks his mind. It's those who hide their thoughts you have to be cautious with. You never know when they will turn on you. Brennan was a great actor. Loved his work. When I was a teenager, I loved him on The Real McCoys.

In an insightful twist, it would seem that through his harsh stance on certain issues, which today would be politically incorrect, the resulting direction of our society is proving that maybe his perspective on the results of the directions that Walter Brennan envisioned have actually become reality in the world we inhabit today. While diplomacy was obviously not his strong suit, what he personally believed was what he stood for, and like it or not, his insight into the future that is today could be considered somewhat accurate. Whatever we think of his personal stands on issues, he had an amazing career, worked through tough times and circumstances, and has become, in that arena, a memorable actor.

Good Day. I was 5 years old when "The Real McCoy's" first aired on TV. I don't remember at what age I started watching the show, but it was a favourite of mine that I fondly remember to this day. Luke, Hassie, Little Luke, Sugar Babe and Papino. There are still some black and white episodes out there that are just barely watchable. Thanks for posting this wonderful and sometimes sad history of a great actor, that was a part of my young life and memories. Best Regards.
