Love the ending about film film projection, wonder whether there are any psychological differences of how viewer perceives the film, attention span and so on

I didn't realize how much the editing (or I guess, lack thereof) contributed to the uneasy feeling I had while watching Gravity. Very interesting, thanks for posting!

Steve Mac Queen also likes long takes. The conversation in Hunger & Patsy's whipping in 12 Years A Slave are examples of this.

I would think that if there is some benefit to the alternating image and darkness of the analog film projector, it would be a simple task to write a program that recreates this effect by causing a blackout every other fraction of a second during the rendering out the final movie.
