this video has single handedly taught me the most basic/advanced/important and just useful knowledge about color grading, and has significantly shaped how I color grade now.

There was not a dull moment in this video, it is priceless! So much wisdom! I particularly like the segment that begins at 1 hour 27 min. when the colorist describes how he had to match the digital version of Dunkirk to the film print when projected side-by-side. Thank you so much, Gus!

Thank you for this! Walter you've changed the game for me. Thank you. At 40:39 how do you organise the clips so that all the shots from that angle get stacked like that?

Do you know where Walter got the Grayscale charts for the different log curves? I thought that was a very interesting approach to building a look that I would like to try myself

Hi, Walter uses there a kind of white paper of cameras like Arri Alexa, Sony venice and Red. LUT Files in dpx imported to resolve as Still in the DR gallery

But, you do the both light and coloerbalance in only One , the first node ?
@gussanchezcolorist Жыл бұрын
Walter:: The idea is, in the first node Exposure (literally hdr exposure or offset) Balance/ color bias (offset) Contrast if needed (usually gain)

The film footage that was demoed in the first half of the webinar, how was that color managed? I didn't see any Color Transforms in the Node Tree.
@DerZaubererFN2 жыл бұрын
Maybe you mean the node at the timeline level? It’s somewhere in the first 15 minutes :)
@monkynutzuk3 жыл бұрын
What node or nodes would you do more creative look adjustments in?
@gussanchezcolorist3 жыл бұрын
Walter told me this:: ... It depend, if the “look” is something that include the more general LUT or not. 1) the look include the LUT and it is a single one for the whole project: put in the timeline 2) the look include the LUT but you might have 2 or more of them (per scene) the put it at POST group level 3) the look is per scene or per shot but it DOES NOT inclutde the main LUT (so is a log to log look), you can either put at POST group level OR you add a node at the end of the stack, make a compound node there and put all the complexity there hidden in teh compound.
