This is the second video where crossbody bags were considered out of style. Well, my husband and I were visiting NYC. I carried a cross body bag and nearly every female and some males had cross body bags, too. To me, they are a staple part of my wardrobe like the white t shirt.

I will never give up my crossbody bag for daytime use! I am always running around and it usually the easiest hands free way for me to shop,run errands, and appointments. I can’t tell you the times when shopping and going through racks, I would put my purse down to get it off my arm or it kept slipping off my shoulder, and I would walk off without it! Or leaving in my cart anywhere…..it’s just not safe.

It’s funny how the trends go, and how we resist or respond. I didn’t like crossbody bags for the longest time. Even when I had young kids, I only wore shoulder bags. To me, crossbody bags reminded me of mail carrier bags 😊. Until I finally took the plunge and bought a gorgeous crossbody bag, and the freedom of being hands free was incredible! Now I am resisting shoulder bags! I want to keep both my arms FREEEEEEEE.

People have been saying skinny jeans are out for years, and yet people are still wearing them. I don't think they're actually out of style at all, we just added the wide 90s jeans back into the roster. Personally I think we've come full circle with jeans at this point and now basically any style you want to wear is fine. Jeans are jeans.

@@poh-tay-toes Out of “style” & out of “trend” are two different things. I see just as many people wearing them as other styles and they are still being marketed in mainstream stores & as shown in the video they are still on the runway. Jeans are a basic staple; kinda like a white T or a classic leather jacket. How you work items into your specific outfit is what makes an overall style in trend, so I agree with your overall sentiment there. Ultimately people are going to wear what looks best on them. Style is timeless. Trendy is seasonal & mostly meant to benefit increased profits & add some overall flare. A simple, classic wash skinny without distressing, muffin top or rips/holes is classic; not referring to jeggings or the poured-into super-skinnies of course and hemlines come into play too. If you have the legs & body type to pull off skinnies & wider legs make you look like a matronly, shapeless tank then skinnies look stylish albeit maybe not trendy. Everyone should obviously dress what suits their particular body and wider shapeless legs are never going to look good on some people. I’m at the age where I pick overall style & what enhances my best features & downplays my detractions over trend. I hear the majority of people positively comment on particular people’s unique style vs people in a trendy outfit but that may be an age thing. If you are confident in your own style (classic, rocker, preppy etc) and your style doesn’t look cartoonish or vulgar, that’s what stands out to people imo.

I happen to believe the crossbody bags are here to stay. Not only because they free up both hands but also they are more secure when traveling or in a crowd. They are just plain practical! I don't see them ever going out of style .

I’m sixty-five years old, and thin and only 5’4 and pretty mobile and physically active. I wear what is comfortable for me that allows me to walk, hike, picnic, work hybrid, do luncheons, attend concerts and church and travel in comfort!. I still wear plaids jackets and blue Jean oversized jackets but also love the basic blue Jean jacket. I get compliments, maybe not because of my style, but because my self confidence overshadows my lack of caring what is considered style.

I will continue wearing my white trainers but what I have done is to replace the laces with coloured ones. You can try camel laces, black ones, navy ones, even red if that’s your vibe. Have some fun and keep those trainers current rather than running out to buy new ones. Just my thoughts 😊

I WILL NOT GIVE UP MY CROSSBODY BAG its a SOLID CHOICE: because of its Timeless Appeal: Having a bag that rests close to your body makes it harder for pickpockets to target you, especially in crowded places or when traveling, Though trends fluctuate, certain classic accessories like crossbody bags never truly go out of style. Skinny jeans are still in for me, I wear them with high boots and also leggings! I’ve seen this trend on runways for 2024/ 2025! Also with flat shoes ! Everything comes and goes eventually! 😊

Skinny jeans still have a place. i think skinny jeans and tall boots are a classic equestrian look that never really goes out of style. it may be less popular at times but what else besides a skirt are we to wear with great boots? i cannot speak for all but it’s too cold where i live fur skirts in the kate fall/ winter

Will never give up my crossbody bag. I live in the City. It’s the safest way to keep from having your bag stolen. I have beautiful Coach shoulder/crossbody bags. Love them all and they don’t make me look out of style. Also will never give up my baby pink no matter what the trend is.

Personal style does not equal trending style. I know uggs, crocs, and kitten heels have trended at different times through out my life but I have never liked them so I've never bought them. Sometimes I like a trend and sometimes I don't. The important thing to remember is that distinction between your personal likes and the trends and to not change your style because of the trends but rather work the ones you like into your current wardrobe and not worry about looking outdated. Looking like yourself is never out of style!

Agree so much. Most of what is “trendy” is not appealing to me or does it fit into my life. I just try to wear what I like and what I think looks good on me. Most of the time trends are designed for size 0 people who are 5’5 or less. As someone who’s 5’10” and definitely not a size 0, a lot just looks off on me. I know you can take inspiration and create a look for you, but I just try to dress classic with small pops of a possible trend 😂 I always like her delivery to not say YOU CANNOT wear this, just a this is what is being said.

It's so true! While I do follow a general fashion flow, over the years, I ve found more of my personal style. For instance, skinny jeans may be "out", but since I have a very active job, up and down stairs constantly, I can't stand too much extra fabric around my legs, so I'm now wearing a slighty wider leg. (but slill slim, since it looks better on me) And some trendy stlyes (such a the cold shouder) always struck me as a little cheap-looking, so I never indulged. The other thing to remember is that tall and shorter women need to factor this into any trendy style, as well as bodily proportions.

The deal with crossbody bags is practicality and safety! If you're in a city, a shoulder bag is so easy to steal. I like the look, but if I'm in most cities, I'm sticking with a crossbody instead!

I am SO glad that oversized everything is on its way out. I’m only 5’ tall and have an hourglass shape so I’ve never been able to find a chic, oversized blazer that looks good on me ☹️ I love the bf blazer look on some people, but I’m glad there’s more options now!

The cross body bag is essential to me. My toddler is a tornado of energy, so I need my hands free when out in the world. I live in New England, so fall for me is when I break out the boot cut jeans. Layer a long tank, thin long sleeve shirt, and a comfy sweater. Put on the ankle boots, and im ready for fall fun.

Ok here is my two cents worth from a 67 year old that takes care of herself and most cannot guess my age. Anything over sized at my mature age makes me look frumpy and older. Sweaters, sweatshirts, blouses, jackets jeans you name it, if it is oversized I look frumpy. But I also do not follow too many trends. I love to watch these type of videos but none of them make me want to run out and purchase items that may be trending. I wear what I think compliments me and if that is my 10 year old jeans with my pink jacket, I am ok with that. And my crossbody is a must always.

I live in Europe and a cross body bag is never out of style. You can't shop, take your kids in kindergarden and do errands with a big bag slipping from your shoulder all the time. It's OK if you follow the fashion trends, but it must be a trend for REAL woman, who work, not some models in studio.

A crossbody is like a wardrobe staple, more of a timeless bag. It's just another option. Interesting if you go into a high end department store or even look online at the high end brand's latest fall editions and there are crossbodies. Bags are more of a personal choice. I have a shoulder issues and can't have a bag hanging from my shoulder and I don't really like satchels or totes. Crossbodies for me are my forever choice. For fun on some of my crossbodies I changed out the strap where possible to a wider canvas strap for an updated look casual look.

I always appreciate the diversity represented in the still photos you use to illustrate each point. I can tell you put a lot of time into finding pictures of women with different personal styles, ages, body types, and backgrounds rather than just sticking in the first images that popped up in Google.

Belts, earrings, handbags, shirts. It’s never out of style. This is a pattern. the style of the clothing may be out but the pattern never is!

Skinny jeans and jeggings are perfect for tucking into Wellies (rubber boots) for working in the garden! They protect from bugs, spider-bites, and mosquitoes! I have a drawer full just for that....and I suppose some would work with those knee-high boots in winter....albeit if one doesn't live in the (glorious) sun belt!❤

I wear crossbody bags. Always did and always will. I’ll never carry a bag in my hand. That’s the way to keep by bag safe and not to be snatched and stolen. Btw I never put my bag on the passenger seat while driving, I always wear it. Cross body 😂

I have actually got rid of my skinny jeans, they felt so tired to me. They used to be good on the bike, but I can wear straight leg jeans or tracksuit bottoms or leggings for that. As for check shackets, they never convinced me in the first place: I would look SO bag lady in them. Anyway here in Sicily, I am still wearing shorts and linen shirts, and will continue to do so into October. It’s a hard life 😂

I'm just glad I keep what I keep and pay little attention to what's in and what's not. I found I waste more money following the trend because it comes back around so fast. I am not ready to give up the shacket just yet. Fortunately, I live in a rural place where plaid and flannel are not uncommon. I still love my riding boots so regardless of the style I plan to rock it again this year. Agree with you about the skinny jeans. After a certain age (probably early 20s unless you are stick thin), skinny jeans are not the best look. Not into the super wide leg either so a nice straight(er) leg looks the most flattering to me. And yay on the burgundy/maroon colors for fall! Keep up these videos as they are fun!

I've always had my own style. Bootcut jeans, a flare, even when other people weren't wearing them, straight leg and skinny jeans just for knee-high boots. Ankle boots (chelsea, almond toe, pointed toe) in all colors and skins. I will not give up my jean jackets, leather jackets, or hoodies. Cold shoulder depends on how it's made, like a slit or a strap with a clean cut out on the sleeve. If a woman has a nice neck, decollete' area and her shoulders don't slope, certain tops can be flattering. When I see fashion designers and influencers give their opinions on what's in or not, I laugh because I've been there done that, have that in whatever "new color, fabric or print" yes I will wear some suede, and velvet. Just wear whatever you look good in and make you feel good in it. And always start with the right foundation garments.

Very true!! Too many people will visit a site and then complain about the content - even when it's pretty much explained in the title! I know YTers don't want to alienate viewers because subs are what it's all about, but if you are going to continually apologize for the content you put together, why bother doing it at all?? I’ve never really liked or understood Crossbody bags. I think the only thing that they serve is that it makes your purse more secure if you are in a place where your purse could be stolen. I find that it’s more likely to get caught in my hair, and it bunches up the front of my blouse, and just kind of pinches my bra/ bust area. it can also make the front of the shirt wrinkled or can even mark/damage it if it’s a metal strap.

I distinguish things that are classic or timeless but not currently popular (trending) from things that had an element that dates the item to a particular season or couple of years. Cold shoulder tops, waterfall cardigans, shackets fall into the latter bucket in my opinion. This can apply to specific looks too, like Pumpkin spice latte girl. Or wearing a blazer so large it swallows you or a tiny bag that is too small to hold anything or the huge tote that could fit a folding bicycle. You know it when you see it. In contrast, a long, straight blazer that fits in the shoulders and sleeve length and skims the hips (is that really OVERsize?) might not be as popular but paired with a short fitted skirt or jeans still looks stylish.
