Cats Trying to Find Balance on a Seesaw !!

I wanted to see how my cats would react to a seesaw so I bought one. It was the first time my cats were seeing something like that; so at first, they were pretty curious and suspicious. But as soon as they started trying to find balance on it, their reactions got very funny!

If you use a balance to weight yourself with that method, there's an easier way to make yourself weigh less. Position matters. You can easily halve your weight if you wanted to. If you weigh 200 pounds, position yourself closer to the middle. And then to make the other side balance, put 100 pound at exactly twice the distance away from the middle as you (so if you are positioned 1 foot from the center, put the weight 2 feet from the center). Unfortunately we aren't all just point masses, so it likely won't get you perfectly, but the principle is there. You even see that at play in the video as the guy moves the weights closer to the edge. The weight of the weights didn't change because he didn't add or remove any. He just moved them so the distribution moved away from the cats a little. The way I was taught this concept in school was using a ruler (to make measuring distance very easy) and little squares of uniform size and weight. It was a great visual method for understanding mean. But if you want to argue you weigh less, that would do it..

[nothing to do with cats, but my dad's doctor's office had 2 scales, one which matched his weight exactly to our home scales, but the other weighed him 8 pounds heavier!!! The nurses seemed surprised when we pointed out that discrepancy... Had to wonder if doc gave instructions WHICH scales to weigh specific patients on, to make them seem heavier than they really were!] Our vet's scales were always accurate! Go vets!!! 😺🐾💕

@@lindakautzman7388 Nah, I think cats who have had to fend for themselves are extremely skittish since danger can appear from any side and they will not engage with something that moves once they get up on it. Only confident cats that are used to humans would not fair something suddenly moving. Then again this is Turkey where most feral cats are human friendly so most of them might be okay.

I've always thought myself a good judge of a cats weight. All three cats were exactly where I expected them to be. My only failure was my own cat. After being ill for a few days and looking way to thin I took him to the vet. He still weighed 12lbs. How heavy must have been to look to skinny at 12lbs (less than Santi weighs, and looked skinner than Indy). Doctor fixed him up and he's fine. I believe he's about 20lbs right now, without looking overweight.😁👍

That’s a big boy, but just like people, ideal weight is extremely variable. The rule of thumb is not so thin you can see ribs and not so fat you can’t feel ribs. With extreme floofs this is a little more challenging but feeling them up is still useful - as well as delightful 😁

Chonky Boy Santi! I haven't seen him so interested in one of your games since the ball pit. The old grump man still has it...when it's food involved. Chewie and the treat was a delightful laugh. He is a mini panther. Now teach Indy to jump and weave and you can get him into agility tournaments.
