I have watched numerous video's on beginner knife making on youtube and found each to have their own merits. I found these 3 video's to be the MOST helpful and informative. What I wouldn't give to apprentice under your guidance! Thank you for your time and no BS approach to your explanations!

We have very similar thought pattern and sense on humor. Rarely do I find myself laughing out loud in a room by myself, but at least one time in each of your videos it's happening. I'll be making several knives my friend, I've been looking for walk throughs of this caliber. I will be promoting these videos to others.

Thanks for sharing sir! Very helpful and keeping it simple gives a lot of people the ambition to make one. I was just finishing up 2 small crook carving knives I made from straight razors when I ran across your video. I actually took a break from them for video 2. I'm now looking forward to a "file" knife. Thanks again

Great knife to put on bookshelf or cut tomato's :D Guys if you want make a good knife and tool, check some others how to make a knife videos, because this is a kids level! If you glue the handle than everything should be solid so epoxy glue is highly needed, no wood glue what can get loose if you grab the knife with wet hand! So you fill everything with epoxy, so that wood, glue and blade is like a one solid piece! Japanese traditions :D:D:D Japanese guys where using one piece solid wood no glued pieces what get cracks from file!

Hello walter from England if recently started watching your videos and making knives myself so far tool type knives in particular leather working knives .and your videos have helped me so much I can't thank you enough of settled on buying 01 tool steel for my next projects and stick with it till I get good with it and know it well I'm extremely new months in several knives and chisels for my lathe and having so much fun with it I have tried to watch other videos but I can't seem to get as much out of watching them as I do yours. is there any channels you recommend I want to do so utility knives next .aww and the saw dust and glue I learned that 30 years ago at school and never forgot since I was lucky to have a very skilled wood work teacher at school .anyway thanks for all the help it's really driving my passion for this craft I seem to be stuck in Japanese styles there's something about the way that do things that specks to me personally

You should have use two pins because the chisel fit up has one flat side so if the glue breaks lice it will spin around so two or three pins would do better

you know i recently saw this knife thats was used by Whalers in 18th or 19th century its a folder.... I would like to know if its possible to make that same design of a knife in a fixed blade version preferably full tang ... its got several different names "Elephant's toe nail" "rope knife" "whaler's knife " very interesting knife i have not seen that design in any of poplar knifemakers editions so it would be a rare knife considering its original was a folder ...thank you in advance ...

Tons of oils available. Just keep in mind that if you also use it to cut food (maybe while camping) use something like a mineral oil.

how do you make a serrated edge on a knife? i want to make a bush knife with some serration
@tylerharvey86718 жыл бұрын
+J.L. Cantrell I'd just use a round file for serrations.
@LanternOfLight78 жыл бұрын
Okay thanks, i did a little research and seen some were using dremel tools to cut into the blade but i like the idea of using like a rat tail or needle file for 45 degree angle cuts into the blade
@ryderburge59397 жыл бұрын
J.L. Cantrell you can use a triangle file then make them round and scalloped with a round file
