I haven't checked out those German made 1911s yet... I've seen the ones made by "Mauser".

Yep! The CZ 50/70 were heavily influenced by the PP.

When I was a young officer in the very early 1980's one of the guys was working a deal for us to buy some Walthers at pretty much dealer prices. I saw the Walther TPH and fell in love with the compactness of it. I ordered one in 22lr, but the deal fell through. I believe it was due to some import restrictions. I came this close to owning one. I always thought the Walther pocket pistols (PP, PPK, PPK/S) just looked right. Yes, I am a "fudd." I just can't get too excited over polymer and painted steel that pretty much EVERYTHING is anymore. The new Walther polymer frame guns are awesome, but just don't have the same appeal for me.

I mainly aimed it at the "Two World Wars" folks. The 1911 was a good pistol... but for what we use today, the PP is a huge leap. I carry Glocks most of the time, but do carry a Sig P238 when I need something really small.
