Ya, the Steyr! I wonder how many who don't pick Steyr simply have never tried it? It is the first pistol with trapezoidal sights, built in safety lock (which cannot be accidentally switched on and can be completely ignored too), and easily removable complete metal chassis for cleaning or tuning. Also, like the Glock, it is never fully cocked until the trigger is pulled all the way. The Steyr Cult grows!........................elsullo

Had ppq, sold it. Trigger was the best but was not impressed with the build quality. Sig has also a very nice trigger, but didn't like high bore axis. Now have a few steyrs, amazing. The build is excellent, ergos are amazing and the trigger pretty good. My kind of gun. I shoot very well with it. Two cents.

Bore axis makes no difference to me in a 9mm. My p320 is one of the best and smoothest shooters I own. To each his own, of course.

Ppq is my favorite but i also have a 320 compact which is close to tied with the styer m9 so ppq then a tie for second place no third however the ppq is my most accurate shooter so it takes first easily

I have never owned the Steyr but do own the PPQ and P320. For my dime, the PPQ has the best egos, trigger and shoot-ability. for whatever reason, all of the 320's I have owned have always felt top heavy, although they are comfortable and shoot extremely well. Still for my money, if I had to pick only one - it would be the PPQ habds down.

Great vid, love the 1, 2, 3 gun comparison. Father-in-Law has the P320 X-Compact. My wife loves shooting it (I have yet to give it a try), but I have to agree with his comments about the Steyr sights, they give me a much better sight picture than the 3-dot and feel as if I have a better view of what I'm sighting in on vs the 3-dot stack blocking most of what I'm sighting in on. A buddy of mine brought out his Steyr and boy am I glad he did. Those sights... Are amazing. My wife wants to get a P320 X-Compact, I want to take her to shoot with the Steyr before I buy anything for her.

I’ve got all 3 and honestly love each one for different reasons. The edge for me has to go with the Steyr for its angled grip, Intuitive sites and low bore axis. I’ve been flipping between that and my CZ P10C at the range. Great review!!

Never Shot the Sig, but I do prefer the Steyr to the PPQ behause of the sights, the trigger and reliability. I started IPSC Sports last year and the ergonomics, the sights , the almost Not Existence of a muzzle flip and the trigger convinced me to decide for the Steyr. These sights are Not really prrfect for high precision but they are Perfect for being in an IPSC Alpha Target in an incredible Speed. Greetings from Austria, congrats for this superb Review!

I own 2 Steyr M9. The A1 and A2MF. They can’t be beat. Countless rounds through them without a hitch. Getting an L9A2 soon. The M9A2 is my EDC. It feels amazing in the hand, the trap sights are so good, and I shoot it more accurately than my CZP10F, Sig P320,XD or CZ 75. I’m amazed these haven’t become more popular. They’re exception pistols.

Steyr, ppq, 320. I have owned all three and I still own a PPQ and a Steyr L9. Steyr positives: ergo, grip angle, flat shooting, trigger break, cool factor. Steyr negatives: thick, sights(swapped to 3 dot on mine), trigger reset. PPQ positives: trigger, ergo, quality. PPQ negatives: bulky tall slide, uncool factor, muzzle flip. 320 positives: modularity, trigger just average to me but not bad. 320 negatives: its a p250 w/ better trigger, top heavy, not near as shootable as other 2.

PPQ in 1st. The Steyr in 2nd. The P320 in last. The PPQ is out the box a true winner. Nuff said. The Steyr with its odd look and weird sights was a shocker. Dead on accuracy after i got used to the sights. Easy shooter. Functioned like a Swiss watch. Very surprised. I love Sig and I wanted to love the P320 but its just okay for me. Everything, the feel, the sights, trigger, accuracy, recoil, controls, its just okay. I guess I really wanted the P320 to be so much more so I feel somewhat disappointed but the Sig is still a fine weapon. Just not for me. I felt the same way when I shot the Gen5 Glock. Its a fine weapon but I felt disappointed because I really hoped and wanted it to be so much more than it turned out to be. BTW the CZ P10c turned out to be what the I'd hoped the Gen5 would be. Great sights and trigger right out of the box and $200 bucks cheaper.

I literally just bought the M9A1 today. I’ve been ogling it for a while and missed opportunities, so when a dealer said he had one, I jumped. He said he thinks they stopped making them because he hadn’t been able to find any for a while. It points well and feels amazing. Can’t wait to get it out.

@@Hangfire79The only real complaint I’ve had on my A1 is the random ejection pattern. It will occasionally plunk you in the head. Not a deal breaker by any stretch. Other than that it has been awesome. I think I might spring for the L9A2. Just wish they’d cut the slide for an optic.

I own the Walther PPQ, and my wife owns the Sig P320. I prefer the Walther. It feels better and I shoot more accurately with it. But not by much. The P320 has less muzzle rise and is a tiny bit smaller for concealed carry. But in every other way, the Walther is just a little bit better, in my opinion. I haven't tried the Steyer, but I like the way it looks.

I've got the M9 and while I don't have a PPQ, I do have a P-99 - both are keepers in my collection. No mention of recoil but I'd bet the 320 bounces around more than the other two. For me, it'be M9, PPQ and distant third, the SIG. The M9 gets bonus points because it's uncommon - I'm always surprised by the number of people that say they've never seen/held one.

Love the comparison videos. Detail description of the trigger feel would be much appreciated. If the trigger reset is too long i hate the gun automatically unless i can get a trigger upgrade installed easily and at purchase. I upgrade all my glock triggers first thing. Short reset but terrible trigger. Just a personal hangup.

I've owned 2 of these 3, and have had trigger time on all. In order I'd go Steyr, PPQ, then 320. The 320 I owned was in 40 which may have added to my lesser opinion of it compared to the other two. But I still think the Steyr and Walther are better guns to shoot.

My first ever gun was the P99 and that gun will always have a certain place in my heart but over time I grew out of the DA/SA, opting for a striker fired/1911-SAO with a consistent trigger pull. That would put the Walther PPQ on the list, but I also like the Glock grip angle, which the Steyr has so I think I gotta give it to the Steyr in 1st, PPQ in a hot hot 2nd, and the P320 in a very distant 3rd as I'm not a fan of Sig

im a little biased but because my cary gun is a P320 my rank is 1. Sig Sauer P320, its even better when you have the RX model with the RMR and Suppressor height sights. 2. Walther PPQ 3. Steyr M9-A1 Because I'm not a fan of the sights not very good for quick sight alignment.

I first got a Walther PPQ Navy because my FFL did not have the Steyr M9 which I wanted. Great pistol, but I don't like the three dot sites. The Navy version comes with a 15 and a 17rd mags and a Threaded barrel. This year I finally got my Steyr. The L9 A2 MF version. I like it over the PPQ. I shot better, the first time, with the Steyr's trapezoidal site than I ever have with any gun including my PPQ and my friend's Glock 19. I have yet to try the Sig.

Definitely choosing the PPQ as #1. Walther quality, best trigger I have found stock & the ergonomics are fantastic. The Styer is unique but has a great feel & trigger. The sights are different but work well. Very well made gun and relatively economical for the quality. Sig is a proven company but the P320 just isn't the striker, poly P226 I want it to be. Good show guy. Keep it up.

The steyr M9 was my carry and main pistol since the early 2000’s. Got 30,000 rounds through 2 of them with 2 FTE’s in all that time. Shoot lots of wolf through them in the early days when it was 5.00 box and still the guns ran perfectly while down the firing line glocks were choking on their built in “limp wrist” feature...low bore axis makes it a soft shooter and the Eros on the A1 series is even better. These are quality built guns from Austria. By the way Steyr has sued Sig for patten infringement on their internal frame heist amongst other things. Ive shot the ppq comp gun, and own a couple of the sig’s. The new gen Steyr is going to bring this pistol in the public eye more then ever. Stay tuned if you haven’t seen it. All three guns though are winners

Looks like you were just as accurate with all three. The Steyr looks the best to me, and I love the sites. It wins! The drop safety issues of the Sig take it to the bottom of the list, for me. PPQ is a gun I've dreamed of owning for years. Strong 2nd place! Wish the wife would approve the purchase for me :(

I took it to the range for lunch today, put a quick 100 through it....trigger in my opinion is better than the original...it is also ~1lb lighter in pull, according to several people whio measured....it shoots as sweet as it did when I got it

I've actually owned all of these. The steyr is flattest shooting. But it's tight tolerances make it more susceptible to debri. The ppqs recoil is unnecessary for what it is. The ergos are pretty nice though. The p320s ergos are also very nice. The higher bore axis makes u feel like u can't hunker down on the recoil impulse. It's a nice shooter though. I would personally take an m&p but out of the 3, PPQ for an all around gun. Steyr for range fun.

SIG is nice but it seems they have become very proud of the 320 since getting the military contract. I would mind seeing an M&P thrown in the mix and Ruger American as well.

I loved my p320 until the handling of the drop issue....... until I sent it out and was back to me within a week. I love it even more now. The good thing that came out of it is I bought a Glock 19 and MP 2.0 compact while waiting for it to get the “upgrade”

The P320 certainly has a great feel in the hand. But you certainly shot the Steyr with style. I'll give a big plus for the P320, but only because of it's familiarity and great shoot-ability. Unfortunately, from my experience, I have to give Sig-Sauer a big minus on customer service, but that's the whole different story.-

The only one I own is a steyr. Hypothetically it's my preferred striker fire of them all. However mine throws casings at my head and I've never figure out why. The sig is a very attractive gun, and I like that solid metal trigger. My dream gun of this class? Steyr grip frame, sig or steyr trigger, steyr sights, but beretta px4 rotating barrel system, and sigs beveled/style slide and beaver tail arrangement. Yeah... I'm dreaming.

Man that Steyr looks good seems very accurate. Ive never shot a Steyr handgun before. I would like to see some transition drills with the Aug and this pistols. Wondering if you ever got a scope for that BFR its been about 3 years since ive had mine and still not have found a good pistol scope for it yet.

Personally I have a p320 and love it but I did have a chance to shoot and field strip a ppq, way easier to strip compared to p320. Still would choose p320 just because I have the gun and know how to handle it personally.

Don't own the Steyr, but would love to try those triangle sights. Do you know if they sell them for other pistols? Between my PPQ and P320, I like the feel and trigger of the PPQ better, but strangely I shoot the P320 better and more accurately. Go figure. Great review. Keep 'em coming.

LordNelson No those sights are specific to the Steyr. However there are somewhat similar triangle/trapezoidal fast acquisition sights out there for other guns. The sure sight & the advantage tactical sight. Both use a triangle/ chevron type fast access sight. Might be worth looking into. advantagetactical.com suresight.com

I’m one of those ppq followers, I have 2 and will have at least 3 by early next year if Walther introduces a ppq compact. I love my p320c as well though and shoot it better than my ppq’s every now and then. I shot the steyr and liked it but not enough to purchase one, but owning one in the future isn’t out of the question

Steven w yeah I know Walther does their sizes a little different. The ppq and p99 are kind of considered full size guns according to walther. I want a ppq compact like the p99 compact, which is really the subcompact size
