Ballerinas always amaze me. To be so fluidly flexible and being able to distribute all of your weight onto the tips of your toes is an incredible feat that takes countless hours of training.

danced to 6 different choreographies of this waltz and they were so alike. Now mark morris is the best since he totally listened to the music. He made it quiet different.

Excellent performance. Well choreographed and nearly perfect synch. This is one of my favorite pieces of ballet and as a straight guy that takes guts to admit. But I wonder what would happen if the lead dancer slipped and fell into the orchestra pit?

I love the ending...just how the music builds and then stops, it's just perfect

Lovely. What happens to them when they get old? Do they teach younger students or write books on dance. Dance is kinesthetic intellignece, it's so alien to me.

There was applause in this live performance, but the music behind this video is directly from the CD, not the live audio.

Ditto. This has to be the most popular Nutcracker piece..in fact, it's the last piece in the Suite (which only has a select few pieces).

Most of the corps for Waltz and Snow are high school students, and there are a few middle school students in Snow. There are a few professionals-- Dew Drop, Snow Queen, and some of the demi-soloists. Overall, a talented cast of advanced dance students.

I suppose that is relative to where you are in the world. Roswell is close to Atlanta, GA.

Yes, I wish I could write music like this ... ..but in answer to your question, I think, it is in part due to the kind of "new" music that gets sponsored (by corporate sponsors), or encouraged (by music faculty) or performed - at concerts...

When it comes to new music, dissonance and experimentation still reign supreme - music that harks back to the romantic era is looked down upon by the music elite. That's how it has been for a whole century. When Prokofiev first started composing, his early compositions were quite romantic - inspired by Chopin - but they were scoffed at by his professors. He never wrote like that again....

Given that these dancers you watched have mostly genius IQ's, they should be able to find any job they want after they enjoy their youth dancing. Don't be fooled by how lovely they dance. At least they could be dancers if they wanted to and have that option, unlike a lot of other brainiacs.

i do point and guess what its not easy! you put some point shoes on and see how it is. ballet is beautiful its not a popularity contest so why dont you do some research before you open your mouth.
