Part of it is still a waltz. Up until the second half with the guitar (that part isn't a waltz as it's in 4/4 time), the song is in 3/4 time and follows a "low-high-high" pattern. It just isn't a very easy waltz to dance to.

Thanks for the feedback! The slower parts indeed does add more meat to the track. It builds up a bit of tension and then crashes it all down in a majestic way. The best example of this is about halfway into the track, where it's just a piano and cello and then an entire orchestra suddenly comes in to deliver a "shock and awe" tune.
