Long time player and I grabbed it cause it's an interesting plane. I think it belongs at 11.7. It is clearly better than the mig23ml and f4s, but it is no f16 or mig29 either. I do find it fun to fly, so I'm happy with it but I do agree that the F5c is a better pick for most.

I bought the F20 while wasted. When I realized, I’m thinking “what the fuck did I just do”. But when I played it, it’s probably one of my favorite top tier premium. F20 surprisingly slaps and I’ve been doing really good with it. Rn I’m at a 14 k/d with a little over 200 kills. So I would say that it comes down to how experienced you are. Almost all the F20 players I see in game have 800 deaths and 100 kills.

Hi. I just started WT and I bought the F-5C (Just be aware, I am level 8 lol.) and I've tried air realistic battles and I am getting absolutely no kills. I was told that the plane is horrible at CAS so I mostly just use the A/A missiles given, but even with that I am completely destroyed, if I go from a distance or not. I have played roughly 20 games by now on the F-5C premium in air realistic battles, but the most I have gotten is 2,000RP which was for 1 kill, and in your video it showed you got 6 kills but 37,000RP. Is there any tactics to get good kills?

First things first, RP gain is time based. The number you see on screen when you complete an action means nothing. I recommend playing lower BR vehicles first. At level 8 I doubt you have enough game sense to enjoy 10.3. This is not your fault, but do take some more time to learn the game.

Im thankful for not expecting the F-20 to be the be-all-end-all plane. Did i need the Tigershark when my US tt is complete answer is no i bought it because I like to collect vehicles when I am able. But all in all I think its a pretty good plane in the hands of someone who knows what the hell they are doing. But i enjoy the plane even with all its flaws.

Okay you can’t say the f-20 is bad, it really isn’t compared to other top tiers yes but it’s an f-5 frame and with the engine it puts down enough power to out turn most American top tiers when you dogfight but when you play in air rb you CANNOT push to head on head battles what you need to do is run the 6 9Ls and flank with your radar off, if you ask me the f-20 is better for most things but I will always like the f-16 more. From my experience the f-20 is better but I agree with this video if you have f-16s or f-15s don’t buy the f-20 because with the right pilot it could be beat

While I do hate the fact that we are now getting Rank 8 premiums and even more so the F-20 as a premium which should have been an event vehicle. It at least isn't overpowered or undertiered. Its imo the perfect example of what a premium should be. A tech tree grinder and an SL farmer, not more, not less. Sure they can be strong, but they should never be stronger than tech tree vehicles. I don't want rank 8 premiums in the first place, but if Gaijin is that greedy I wouldn't mind as much if they at least keep them balanced, rather than having the 10.3 situation with 32 F-5Cs and no variety whatsoever.

I simply spent the $25~ish to put a Talisman on my F-5E and wabam. Ez grind. Rank I - V is decently easy to complete with regular tech tree vehicles so long as you have a premium account, and the will power to grind for probably hundreds of hours, which a Premium would obviously help speed up but the F-5E is GODLY and let me finish the entire top-tier US in about a month of semi-casual play after work.

I'll be honest. If I hadn't gotten the F-20 as a gift from a good friend of mine, I would have hesitated, despite just how much I love it. I adore the history of this aircraft, and naturally, its appearance in Area 88, a 1980s manga and anime about Cold War aviation, in which the protagonist flies the F-20. In fact, the very first skin ever done for the F-20 was the Area 88 skin I made and posted within a few hours of the dev server opening. But in War Thunder it lands in an odd spot. I hesitate to call it overtiered, because on paper it's an F-16A with an F-5's airframe, but at the same time, considering the trouble I've had using it, especially in Sim, I can't help but admit to hoping it had a more favourable BR.

I like it. Full afterburner + airbrake and you can hang in any turn fight. But i seem to be fighting F-14/15s and MiG-23/29s more often than anything else. The missiles are solid. A lot of people think they can head on an all aspect missile. Taking a little bit of time to flank so enemies have less flares helps. The only thing really holding it back is the radar change. This is only my experience with it. Im not advocating for anyone to purchase it. I got it because i like the airframe and see trainers over my house every year.

Long a Time player here, Picked this thing up since F-5s are my favorite aircraft to fly, and while the F-20 has been a ton of fun, its in a really weird spot. It's kinda a struggle bus if you attempt to fight craft at or above your BR, but excels in fighting things below it, and if it weren't for this jet having such a favorable matchmaker (constant down-tiers), it would be in a terrible position. After playing for a while, I feel like we might need another BR decompress yet again in the 11.0 to 12.0-12.3 area, as the difference between and up-tier and down-tier is well, Night And Day.

Yeah i agree, the F5C is the best and will always be, even if a F16 premium soon to be coming is going to probably cost 80 bucks, you can save 20 and grind on 10.3 which I would consider as the best tier for both aim and missiles, since not everyone there has best missiles or radar, (making radar missiles a bit useless), since at this br, you learn both aim and missiles, and many other things. when I bought it back in 2022 December, I was suffering and quit war thunder, then regained that motivation the motivation was a hole crazy, I earned the F4E in less 2 days (I was on tier 6 stuck with 400K SL and had to grind 3 planes because they put the F4C into tier 7 (it was also the same reason why I quitted)), now after a week I managed to unlock tier 8 and finally got the F16A then F16 ADF and now thanks to the F5C I got the plane, the F16C, I could rn just be using it to grind other planes like F15A and F14B, but I felt complete. Now my brother bought the mig 21S during the sale (he bought it for half the price) I'm now aiming to get tier 5 on his account before the end of july, also did I not mention that I had gotten them all with no premium (I did grind the F16A with a day of premium thanks to twitch) Review: If you are looking to buy the F5C to grind the USA tech tree, its the best, save that 20 dollars for premium time, it grinded me to Tier 8 in total for couple of months, you can earn it less than a month if you somehow got crazy time with no sleep. Look, in a short way, wait for the sale, it will come next in new years, yes its months away, use these to learn aiming, and when it comes buy the F5C for I think half the price, maybe 2 planes for 60 bucks, also buy premium time if you got the 75 dollars u wanted the F20, buy the F5C that I think will be on 45 dollars and buy the rest for either premium time or save the money.

You dont event count in the players that fly SB as me, where its a pain to fight in F-5C that has no radar and only two AIM-9E missiles. The F-4S is better but its tank and not fighter. So F-20 is very good upgrade, only problem is the BR and better opponents, ye thats where i agree, not easy but still playable.

I enjoy the f20 but it shouldnt be 12.0 or they shiuld upgrade it armament options. The missoles are true to life, but it coukd carry up to 6800lbs of munitions for air to ground missions

I hate the F-5C. It's rate of fire is a really bad joke... If you hit it punches good holes into the enemy. But hitting is a pain in the butt and nearly never happens for me.
