Love those wrenches. I have a similar one. I like the finish, no roughness, all smooth. Nice job on the spring replacement. Great resto and video Bill.👍🏻

Thanks Mike - great to hear from you again! I did not want to go over the top on this, just make it look kind of shiny and for the handle to bring out the wood grain. I appreciate you being here, Bill.

Looks great Bill! I'm glad you were able to make a replacement spring and pin.

Thanks MagDad! I had to make a couple of springs and pins before I finally got it right, but I did not show that. 😁 I appreciate the comment, Bill.

The wrench looks fantastic Bill. Nice repairs too. You did a really good job.

Thanks Dale. That pin was never going to come out - it was completely rusted to the wrench. I tried everything to get it out including heat, but I finally had to just drill it. Thanks for the comment!

This video was very helpful. It provided an option for making replacement pins. The wrench turned out excellent. Thanks very much for sharing. 😀👍

Thank you Joseph! I think the pin that finally worked was my third try. 😁 It worked out OK in the end. I have a box full of old springs that I have collected over the years, and I found a couple that were suitable for making the new spring. I appreciate your comment, Bill.

@@rollerbald Hi Bill. Thank you so much for the response. I have a couple of pipe wrenches I will be beginning on soon. I'm going to try your pin method. It may take a few times like you, but I think without a metal lathe it is worth the effort. By the way, I have used your two-piece solution for the bigger rivet. It doesn't look like the original, but it works. I may try the small pin method with some larger round stock. We never know until we try, right! The handle turned out great. Thanks, Joe.

Nice wrench, and great idea for the new pin. Sometimes brute force is the only option. I am sure Roy would be proud!

Hi Melinda! Yes, it was necessary to go Medieval on the wrench to get that pin out! I don't think Roy would mind. 😁

That came out fantastic Mr. Bill! Awesome job replacing the pin and the spring! As soon as you said Roy I thought about Quigley Down Under. "My name ain't Roy."..I don't know why it made me think of that!🤣

Thanks George! Quigley is a great movie! 'Said I never had much use for one - never said I don't know how to use it'. HAHA! Thanks for watching brother.

I like that you left the name. I love finding old tolls that you can tell were well kept by somwone

Hello Hiker! I figured that if Roy thought enough of that wrench to put his name on it to keep it from walking away I had no business removing it. I will be it's caretaker until the next owner comes along when I am gone. 😁 Thanks for being here, Bill.

HaHa! I would hope so Mark! Maybe Roy Rogers also! I hesitated about removing ET's initials, but hopefully he doesn't mind. Thanks for the comment, Bill.

You are very talented. What was your profession before becoming a KZbin star?
@rollerbald5 ай бұрын
Thanks BeerDrinker! Not talented at all, mostly a jack of all trades and master of none, except for possibly my many years as a programmer - systems analyst before I retired in 2018. I have always had a keen interest in anything electrical or mechanical, music, ham radio, vintage car and motorcycle restoration, tools, astronomy, fishing, hunting, you name it ! No way I am a star, just an old guy having fun in retirement. I really appreciate your support, Bill.
