The building and the organ were built just to play this hymn. Wonderful :) Greetings from an English cousin from across the pond.

Hearing this work in the Grand Court, with the Chorus and Brass, is nothing short of epic. If there is even the shadow of a drop of English blood in one's veins, this will resonate. Thank you for posting!

To think that I was relieved of my duties as my parishes organist for playing the ELP version of this hymn..Fr. Ryan never knew that this was an Anglican standard for over 100 years..The mighty Wicks in the choir loft got a hellacious workout on this one...

I hope you found another parish with a better organ and a priest with much more class.

Had a great day there. It's impossible to capture the experience with a camcorder. You have to experience it live. Hope you and your mom had fun. Look for more; I'm gradually getting the rest of the 5 pm concert uploaded.

agreed -- and IMO, nothing sounds as amazing as a pipe-organ-- it resonates unlike any other instrument

Tempo too fast for size of hall? No matter. Its nice that Americans can hear one of the best national anthems ever written. You go Peter and Ray Bis.

You may be technically correct about this being "English" but this video is about the Wanamaker organ, the singing and the atmosphere. Thecloudwalker57 was just showing how proud he feels (being probably English) especially as this was being performed in the USA. I feel the same. :-)

For only having the shotgun mike on the camcorder this is incredible. I wnat to hear this thing in person sometime. I am guessing if you were going to record this for say a PBS pledge drive special, you would be at close to 90 separate mikes. but wow it sounds great as it is.

At 1:03, what is that God blessed seemingly out of tune high pitched flue? Other than that, that is an impressive, masterful performance. The organist is perfection personified and the organ itself is spectacular. Peter Conte. I see the organ is only a vi/463. terribly small! I jest. What a full organ. It has everything that the largest orchestral organ in the world could ever use, and more. very moving.
@frankcastle37617 жыл бұрын
What does vi/463 mean?
@PureCerium6 жыл бұрын
I believe that means 6 manuals and 463 ranks. One of the largest organs in the world, especially the string division.
