Aidan here! Thanks for reviewing my wands 😃! For the crackly wand I used a paint called Deco Art Media. It comes in various colors. A thick coat will dry in larger cracks.

Aaaayyyyy. I had almost forgotten i sent some photos of wants to be reviewed. (Justin's wand and the display) i have started using boiled linseed oil as a finish for the wands but I'm open to trying other finishes. Since I sent those photos ive made like 20 other wands, gotten a lathe to help with basic rounding off, and posted a bunch on tiktok. Thanks for reviewing those. I'll send some more recent ones I have made soon. Love the videos kivox. Glad your back to doing these

_50 minutes?!_ Ooh, this’ll be a good video. Also, fairly certain QC is Quebec when it comes to Canada. And I really like the blue wand at the end of the review portion of the video. Very regal looking. Not sure what else to say here. Kinda hard to fit ‘toilet paper’ into a sentence and not have it seem out of place.

40:57 Ive been meaning to ask but never got a chance during the streams. When you make holes in wands like that do you use a round Dremel bit or a burning tool?

a Rotary tool, most hardwoods will burn a bit, depending on your speed that you're running them at. So if you want the burned look, there you go.

I think it's called cactus juice or something. U put it and the wood in a vacuum pot then after it stops bubbling. Then U bake it so stabilize it so it won't absorb any resin later.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. And yes there is something called cactus juice that you have to put into a vacuum and then actually bake it afterward to get it to harden properly but that is for stabilizing the wood and filling in all of the cracks but it’s more for the stabilization and strengthening the wood itself. Like if wood has a bunch a little cracks or a very unique texture to it and is very porous and more likely to crack you would use that. But you can also just do a thin layer of resin to fill it in and not put it into a vacuum, there’s a lot of different solutions. Like on River tables they usually just do a very thin layer of resin first, and let that fully cure.

Jan here. The first wand is for a 7 year old girl and she wanted a star on the end. That's how wands look like to her. And it's made from a branch with a knot at the end. The knot being wider than the rest was nessecary to make the star on the end at all. I'm not a fan of wand stars either, but I think I was able to make it not look tacky. So much so it's one of my favorites. The vapor trail was floating above us while we were talking about wandmakingwhich decided the shape there and then. Second one was made from pine root which is extremely brittle, which is why I didn't taper the shape too much. Third one is actually in use and is slowly being weathered naturally. I don't like to artificially weather my wands. I make em new and they're made to be used.
