I think the toaster is a reference to the Stark Industries shell that killed Wanda's parents and trapped her and Pietro under rubble.

Something I just noticed with that when Vision using his shifting powers in the show, it has that old time effort but when he saved Mr. Hart from choking, his powers were used normal as show in past MCU films. It could be that this moment broke the show from its own reality for a bit

The wine Wanda serves to Mr. and Mrs. Hart is from "Maison du Mepris." "House of Contempt," if translated literally. But a sly little wink to one of the comics arcs that served as source material for the show if read a different way... As "House of M."

The ads represent her trauma. SPOILER - . . The toaster represents the bomb that killed her parents and that trapped her and Pietro under the rubble. The watch in the second episode represents the experiments by Strucker that triggered her powers.

That´s the first thing I thought while watching the episode. Without even checking online, I thought: "I bet this is when Infinity War came out, and it´s representing Vision´s death". And I still think the same. Everything in this show seem´s to be a mirror of what happened in Wanda´s real life.

I like how, as of the first two episodes, it seems that they are filming each installment as if it were from a different decade in television history. Growing up, the only way I could go to sleep was to turn on the old black and white shows on Nick at Nite and they captured the nuances of those times quite well. Also it was nice to see more a little more range from two of the MCU's minor characters, and Paul Bettany played the stereotypical bumbling husband quite well.

A lot was missed in the 1st episode by a lot of people. Mrs. Hart kept saying stop it while her husband was choking, but she was looking at Wanda while she was saying it. Vision clicking the button on his remote at the end,and the hand that was in color having a similar type of device in it's hand at the very end. Wanda randomly calling out Diana when she dropped the pots in the kitchen among other things.

Didn't see the face on the toaster until you pointed it out. Like Sixth Sense the color red is significant (more in next episode). So now I think the toaster ticking away is the bomb that killed Wanda's parents and the face represents Ultron - both products of Stark Industries.
