Wanderful Revolution I like the good ole skyline drive hikes of course, we have some bigger better hikes planned to do someday though. I hope to see places as beautiful as this hike y’all took.

Really enjoyed this video series! We have hiked the Camino and are hoping to hike the Kumano trail in the next two years. I would love to know what your budget was for this hike. We have heard it is a bit pricey but would love to go. If we have a Japan rail pass and don't need luggage transfer, how much should we plan to spend? It looks like you stayed in some memorable guest houses with amazing food, which is totally our style. I think the cost would be worth it to have the cultural experience.

How exciting to be planning your Kumano!! We loved both the Camino and the Kumano, but they are indeed very different. The Kumano is much pricier!. For the 2 of us we spent $200 per day give or take. We spent 5 nights and 6 days and our reservations (including transfer of one bag) were about $1600USD. This seems pricey but it includes a lot. Room, dinner, breakfast and we got lunch boxes each day. And the meal are exceptional. Always a wonderful experience. If I recall correctly, the luggage transfer was about $30 per day, so you could subtract that from the price. If prices haven't changed much in the last year, $1600 should provided you with a wonderful walk. Let us know if you have other questions! If You haven't already check out this website: www.tb-kumano.jp/en/

I only heard about this pilgrimage 2 days ago, and am planting a seed in my mind to hike it in 2024 with my friend. Can you tell me please, did you book your accommodation in advance? Thank you. Diane.

Hi Diane! How exciting to be planning such an awesome trip! Yes, you will need to book you accommodation in advance, as there aren’t an extremely large amount of them. We hiked the Nakahechi route and it was wonderful. Here’s a link to information on accommodations and how to book. The website always has a lot of other great information on the hike as well. www.tb-kumano.jp/en/lodging/

What month did you do this hike? Winter? Were the days long enough?
@WanderfulRevolution4 жыл бұрын
We did it in February... the amount of daylight we felt was more than enough to make it to our next accommodation
