Thankfully the allied did not bombard that one. Just think of Brest and Caen that were entirely flattened, or that ancient medieval church, perfectly visible at the top of a hill from the sea, that was bombarded...ninety seven times. From one battle ship. But one cannot erase history that easily, thank God. So far...

A l'opposé des villages flamboyants du sud du pays Gerberoy déploie tous ses charmes , sans commerces , personne , Gerberoy se fout tout simplement des modes et des années qui passent . Cette courte visite sous une belle musique m'a ému , Gerberoy m'a pris à contre-pied , le charme nordiste a opéré à plein , les quelques 80 habitants de ce village peuvent être fiers .

Do people actually live here? Some buildings look abandoned. And if your walking through ,there’s no places to stop and rest in any village.

Yes people do live there but I suspect that many houses are second homes or holiday cottages. The visit was March 2022 so only just post covid so very quiet. There are plenty of places to sit and rest but probably unseen in the video. The French are generally very good at providing facilities for their attractions and all these villages are free to visit and park at, or at least were when we visited.
