Nice kit. Kudos on the Knipex. Important items to me are Vise-grips w/wire cutter. If you've ever run over the wire from a burnt out car tire and had it wrap around your rear tire and lock it up you will understand their importance. In addition I carry a couple metal cutting saber saw blades also used a carbide grit one in Africa to remove a stuck bearing they can be clamped in the Vise-grips used for a handle. Another item is a small triangular metal file for repairing threads. Used the saw in remote Argentina to make brake pads for a BWM 650 from some spares that were for a 1200 GSA.

That square magnet that you have over your socket driver is actually a magnetizer/demagnetizer. You drag a metal tool (i.e. screw driver) over the top of it where there's a little groove half a dozen times and it magnetizes your tool. To demagnetize your tool you stick it into the hole through the middle. Good vid though. Always nice to see what everyone is carrying to see if there is anything I missed and should have. Thanks!

Applying RED loctite into aluminum anything, you have a good chance of stripping out the threads when you take the bolt/screw out.

Nice selection there. I also like to do most all my bike work with my travel tools, keeps me knowing that I have everything I could need. hehhe. I should probably add some safety or bailing wire to mine. I get asked about my tools often, I should probably do a video like this one too.

might i also recommend a couple pairs of nitrile gloves nothing worse than getting chain lube or grease or whatever all over your grips the weight and space they take up is practically non existent and save a ton of trouble with trailside cleanup

@@WanderingBeast Cool. I'm thinking to just have a spare chain in the wilderness and to install a master link on the chain that i'm using before even going anywhere. That way if my chain acts up, I'll just do a straight swap using common tools I already have.

8mm,10mm,12mm,14mm,17mm,19mm sockets will take off every nut/bolt on any metric bike except for axles and internal engine nuts. You mentioned you carry 9mm,11mm and 13mm. Their is not one single fastener on the KLR or any metric bike from the factory that uses those sizes
@WanderingBeast5 жыл бұрын
not from factory but rattled loose, found who knows where to fit come in all sizes for a bike that in from 1990. as well as aftermarket racks and skid, etc.

Why 12 point sockets? More prone to stripping a bolt/nut head.

its craftsmen Universal sockets, they work on 4.6.12. sided bolts, external torx, rounded nuts as well. They have great grip,, never had an issue rounding off
