Jpen was a dying style and Ryu took it to its logical conclusion. That he reached great heights is a testament to his athletic abilities. RPB itself is a difficult style to master and none has practiced it better than Wang. The battle against contrasting styles is always fun to watch. Both great players.

J-pen is the one big disadvantage itself, but RSM could play this style and win points against top Chinese players. His is the Great Player.

Why does Ryu serve reverse pendulum to Hao? Does he want backhand to backhand? Edit: only after watching in .25 speed that I realize its a pendulum with a distraction motion
@dickn.ormous10643 жыл бұрын
The reverse pendulum was invented by Kim Taek Soo and was used quite often by RSM. Reverse pendulum=good for backhand is a bit exaggerated.

Without trainer WH could of easily loose. What happened in the set 2 and after that, I think: they broke Ryu game by "loosen" the strength/power of the hit and bringing the game close to the net/to the table. Trainer asked(I believe ) WH to play shorter. And that instantly became very confusing, and total nightmare to RYU. He had started to make mistake after mistake. RYU is brilliant in the long game, when strong ball comes to him. Also later in the game you can easily notice - where the game goes "longer" WH mostly lose the point. Damn, such a smart tactical decision by Liu Guoliang!

What's your point? Playing a game without strategies or playing a game to your opponent's strength?
