Guardians of the Dafeng is a throroughly enjoyable drama. The cast is great, the locations, cgi. It's different from most dramas in a way that they don't tell you from the very beginning what goal the character has to achieve. It's a journey we embark on together with the protagonist. This makes the drama less pedictable. The plot has layers that we have yet to uncover. All characters are distinct in their own ways and play their role in the story. There are a lot of really funny scenes, moving scenes, good fighting scenes. Dylan plays a mischievous and brave character. The story portrays relationships really well. I do recommend this drama.

I love Guardians of the Dafang. I have been watching Chinese Dramas for over 2 years. This is my first Dylan Wang starrer. I am enjoying it immensely. I was pleasantly surprised. Quite different than what I have been watching. Dylan's expressions are quite hilarious.

This drama is doing amazing despite the smear campaign against Dylan and GOTD, with 50M daily viewership and heat reaching almost 30K and still gaining momentum. Don’t be fooled by the paid low ratings. Every episode is exciting and laugh out loud funny. Dylan is absolutely right that he is the best person to play Xu Qi’An. It weaves comedy, mystery, action, drama, familial love, brotherhood and romance in a seamless, entertaining and compelling narrative. The production quality, including the cgi, is topnotch.

I truly enjoyed Guardians although it was more comical in the earlier episodes. It is was supposed to light hearted comedy and I find the jokes funny. And it starts to get suspenseful when the main story builds up. Haters will be haters. It started in full force when the series premiered and it was so obvious on KZbin and it gave me the feeling that they are paid to their job. Bcos they are trying to pick bones from inside the eggs based on their comments. The rating is definitely too low and Dylan Wang is very well fitted for the role. But we are here to enjoy the shows who cares about the ratings!!! Btw, it is a breath of fresh air from the current Chinese costume drama that seems to be fixed on the same formula and they keep recycling it.

I hope I'm not bothering those of you defending this drama. I'm speaking only for myself, making it clear that what kept me from continuing to watch the drama was only structural, the actors and actresses seem very graceful to me and the story was interesting at first, "but" the problem arose for me when too many female characters started to appear and I couldn't focus on any of them: the little cousin, the young cousin, the scientist, the dancer, the female warrior, the princess... did I forget any? Maybe the type of harem drama doesn't appeal to me, the last one I saw was a reverse harem and in the end I dropped it too because I said to myself... look, none of them, the main female character is better off alone by herself. In any case, I hope that those who like this drama continue to enjoy it, because even if it is not to my taste, I love the diversity of genres in the world of chinese drama.

I read Abt Wang Xin's rescue in the news. He is rescued fast compared to others who were forced to work more than a year without pay before running off/rescued The MO of such scams is they say it's high income working at some luxury hotel in Spore Then the plane diverts to Thailand/Myanmar/Laos where they are forced to work at illegal factories or Tele marketing Quite a number of my countrymen & women are victims of these scams cos I'm from Malaysia (neighbouring country of Thailand/Myanmar)

I have made it a point to check out Deng Ke's dramas, ever since I watched his "My Heroic Husband" and enjoyed it so much... Guardians of Dafeng is a drama made for Dylan Wang, I dont think anyone else could do it... his character is so boisterous, animated.....! its really a comedy drama with some touchy moments... 5.4 is pretty low but then its a slapstick comedy.

I didn't expect higher DR for Guardians of Dafeng, my rating is closer to MDL 8,5 because I am really appreciating people who finally give as an entertaining drama between lots of spitting blood, dying, love me kill me scenes... For comedy scenes you like it or not when somebody jumping from a coffin alive 😂. Expect unexpected kind of drama, leave logic sleeping at home and enjoy good laugh and acting. I think both dramas I started watching The blossoming love and Moonlight Mystic have sad ending so I am really enjoying GOD at the moment.

Thanks for another update, Marcus! I think Dylan Wang's new drama "Guardians of Dafeng" was attacked by haters even before the drama was released. They started to rate the drama low scores after 40 minutes of the premiere day and claimed they already finished the first 4 episodes. Dylan is doing very well with all types of new projects and opportunities. He is currently finishing a movie right now. The drama is currently doing very well all around the world. You will get all the low ratings from haters and other actor's fans. I will give the drama an 8.0 very entertaining and enjoyable!!! 👍👍

Hi 👋. I was very glad to hear that guy got rescued. How he got himself into that was scary. That's actually a great question. Did they rescue everyone else as well? I hope the answer is yes. And it also shows how you must educate yourself on what you answer online when traveling to foreign countries. Onto dramas... I'm actually a bit sad that I can't watch towards the truth because auto translated subs give me a headache. It was on my watchlist and now it's on hold and I may have to take it off altogether. Under the moonlight does sound interesting. Hopefully Youku could give us normal subs then I will watch that. Also happy to hear Hidden Shadow (its MDL name) past review. It looks awesome. Dafeng is way too low; it's nowhere near the perfect drama in my book, but currently a little over halfway through, I would place it in the lower to mid 8s. Glad XZ is OK; he's never one to complain or delay anything even if he gets injured and he gave an interview to portrait magazine about how much he changed in the last five years and you could tell that he's become a lot calmer and happier with himself. Hi Marcus and thanks for the updates ❤. What a scary thing happened with the actor...thankfully he is safe now. I'm currently watching Moonlight Mystique. I found the styling one of the best I've seen for a very long time (the only other drama with great styling being Fangs of Fortune). It's Ao Rui Peng's biggest role so far, and he is doing just fine. However I wish Bai Lu takes a number of different projects from now on. I think it's enough xianxia for her, at least for now. I'm also watching Kdrama Love Scout and will try to check Florishing Peony for Li Xien and Zhang Ya Qin. I've discovered Li Xien through last year's Will Live In Spring, and Zhang Ya Qin is one of my favorite actresses from the times of Legeng of Fuyao. Today is my first working day after New Year holidays, wish me luck😂😂😂.

Who should arrest the guilty party? It is definitely not the Thai authorities who made the arrests, because the abduction and detention took place in Myanmar. Thai police have no authority in Myanmar, except to negotiate and request. Therefore, it should be the duty of the Chinese government to help other victims who are detained in Myanmar.

@pamur5979 If that's the purpose why add various languages subs. It's not about demography at all. It's about the hate train on the lead actor. Antis or Blind fans doing the same old job. Nobody is judging the drama rationally. Either It's hater deliberately setting up the downfall of the drama or the crazy delulu fans irrationally looking over it. The right conscience is nowhere to be found. Personally I'm not a big fan of the lead actor since his debut. The only thing I liked about Dylan is he is handsome & funny. Love between Fairy and devil cemented that he can really act without being too much extra. This drama "GOTD" solidified the fact he can really act If given right roles in his wavelength and frequency. If he needs a breakthrough he needs to work more hard for it. He is young and indeed has great potential.

It seems that he was saved by the media noise and they realized that he is famous and that it was a mistake... CAREFUL with those castings and attractive offers that circulate on the web. Unless they are from companies with a PROVEN track record and reputation. If it happened to this famous actor, it can happen to anyone. I have been watching Guardians of the Dafeng and it is much higher than 5.x. I have also been watching Moonlight Mystique and I am also enjoying that one so far. I did watch Begin again and I would probably give that a higher as well.

Thanks for the update Marcus, I had to do real name authentication to be able to vote and comment on Douban, something I never had to do before so they have indeed really cracked down on fake accounts. The 6.8 rating for Let Wind Goes By seems a bit low considering the phenomenal acting but it is a very dark story. Can't believe what happened to Wang Xing! He is lucky he has such a vigilant girlfriend and so many good friends. Haven't been to Thailand in years... scratches it off the list for my girls trip this year.

@@Marcushere Only once is a blue moon - I am much more active on MDL. Since I pretty much live in China, I try to limit my online presence on Chinese social media. But Douban has some good closed comment groups that you can't get into without real-name authentication. Some of my mainland friends are on there so I had to get verified to be able to read their comments.

The rating for guardian are dragged down by haters,the show is entertaining and deserve more I have never followed the ML bcoz of what antis say about his acting but i decided to give him a chance and i have not dropped this drama since.

The problem with Guardians Of Dafeng is that the humor is a little bit too much sometimes, Wang He Di is naturally funny, but in the drama he is over acting in the funny scenes, almost as if it is a comediy sketch of the real drama. A problem that a good directing would solve by helping him tone down the comedy. This may have pushed the score down

I agree and disagree in the same time with you. I agree when it comes to other countries standards. But when it comes to China this " over acting" in comedy is almost in every single drama. Actually, I would even say that GOTD is not overacting compared to other dramas in China.

I find the cringe factor of the comedic overacting in many Chinese products absolutely hilarious ... And even when it's not supposed to be "comedy", per se. Such as Feng Shaofeng in the Detective Dee movies with Mark Chao....his campy style can totally crack me up.

GOTD is rather low. I’m in episode 18. I will admit it’s not what I expected. It’s a bit chaotic. I like the humor and the family vibe. The camera/filming work is really good. I’ve started FP and I’m hoping ones already. Great acting ALWAYS wins the day.

People hating on Guardians of the Dagenham is bewildering to me. Personally I’m really picky when it comes to Cdramas and this one has been amazing in my opinion. Good acting all around and a great plot blended with comedy that doesn’t seem out of place or forced. I think people are too used to pretty boy/girl dramas where main lead as no personality and just acts cool.

I'm enjoying Guardians of the Dafeng. It is mostly goodnatured, which I like, and the cinematography and sound is good. I like that Dylan at least is not dubbed, I don't know if others are and as a non speaker of Chinese the dialogues sound great. The cast is really good and the only thing that has bothered me so far are the scenes with the female lead, not because of the actress because she is doing a great job. I await every episode eagerly, so looking forward to the rest of the drama.

Maybe ppl who have read the book dont like how the movie was made ?? Or are the haters just trying to knock it down? Im in the USA. i dont understand how the fans control actors' lives in China. I can understand that Guardians of the Dafeng is very " original and modern" , plus comedy is subjective etc. So not everyone would like it. But lets be honest, there are strange things going on. To me it looks like the whole campaigne against Wang Hedi. Im not even his fan. I didn't like "unchained love" and truly hate "only for love", but "Guardians of the Dafeng" is brilliant. There are so many shitty c dramas, where there is no plot, boring romantic stuff for old ladies but they are appreaciated. I don't believe that this is a coincidance, not in the boring world of c-dramas.

Hi Marcus, I'm following the Guardian of Dafeng and the score is too low. I'm enjoying the series with some humor and mystery solving cases. I would give it around 7.0. Also, I want to shout out the series Flourished Peony. It's quite good so far with great acting from the leading cast.
