I believe he is also the devil incarnate. his "wisdom", his push/drive, his asking/motivating others to do what he wants, his controlling the racing when he asks Reina to hold back and let the boys go at it, his choosing to/not to tune someone's car, and the methods he uses to tune to give as much as the person asks for then says it's not on me if you die. All of the cars are sins/temptations that bring both joy and sadness/death. Someone in this is "Constantine", but I haven't figured out who....the epic battle of good vs evil, man vs the devil, etc....

As someone who recently bought a car that can be put to work like this IRL, it’s amusing to see people get annoyed by the characters leaving suddenly. The in and out nature of these characters is honestly how interstate racing is in real life. You might catch someone for a few days, maybe a month, but both intervals are only if you’re lucky. Sometimes you just see someone, chase after them, and regardless of what happens you’ll never see them again. They all have their own stories to tell, maybe you’ll be lucky to know who they are if you stop and crack open a soda after racing for a bit. But the reality is.. Hundres of millions of people travel on roads across the globe. Not everyone will return to the same place at the same time. I’d always get my window of opportunity with someone on the road, and that’s it. Only small towns have the privilege of knowing your opponent, but even then it pales to the bigger stages in these cities.

I can agree with this from experience, but the main difference is that you hardly get invested in who that other person is in real life highway races. You might do a pull or duck in and out of traffic for a mile but af the end you’ll just tell your friends “I ran into this cool mustang earlier”. That’s not at all what this show is doing, otherwise we wouldn’t even know who half the characters in this anime are. The writers are trying to get us invested a little bit into each character along the way, but there’s not enough introduction or conclusion given for anyone to really care- it’s a weird middle ground between reality and fiction that just feels like bad writing.

@@wi1dcard192 I know it's an old comment but... the show's based on Mid Night and two real cars (the ABR Hosoki S130Z and the Yoshida Specials 930 Turbo), so I think they would've known each other in real life. Wangan racing was a lot different from other kinds of racing (especially any racing outside Japan) because they didn't have to worry about police

So the anime is set in the early 90's, Keiji's dad died 15 years ago which would be around the late 60's to mid 70's.. but the cars in the flashbacks look nothing like the cars from those periods... am I the only one bothered by this?

Reina's gtr was white from the very beginning. Only when it got tuned by Yamamoto, it turned to dark grey colour. But a few episodes later it turned to white again. Continuity kinda lost on the car models I suppose. 😂

The blackbird can reach top speed of 350km/h and can last for 15 minutes. In contrast, the Bugatti Veyron can maintain its top speed of +400km/h for 12 minutes. Wangan Midnight was based on the 1980s. Can you believe that in 1980s there was a car that was more powerful and more efficient than supercars today?

Mild gargle Car makers aren't pushing the engine to it's limit because it ruins the reliability, and these tuner cars need a complete rebuild frequently because the engine can't take the pressure for very long. By the way this series is very unrealistic, you shouldn't compare it to reality.
