I am a Wanikani user, I have been using the site everyday for about 6 months and reached level 17 (over a total of 60 I believe ) . for context, I was just about able to pass N5 level when I started . Regarding the grammar there is something I'd like to add . As you said, there is no explanation of grammar points BUT every new word taught comes with sentence/context examples . If you actually read every sentences, new points of grammar are slowly introduced . At first I wasn't reading the sentence as I just wanted to learn the kanji meanings . The frustrating daily limitation is what got me into reading the sentences as I wanted to squeeze more out of the website . As you say at $80/year having a way to access the grammar points would be appreciated, but I might never have come across you channel if they did! Keep up the great work! I looking forward to check your new series!

I hadn't considered reading those sentences to practice grammar, it would still be helpful that they keep track of the sentences and grammar points which you've seen so you can easily revisit them though. Thanks for the insightful comment! ^^

@@VoylinSensei I have to add another thing: you didn't speak about the principal point of wanikani and what is the main job of the teachers of this website: the mnemonic aspect. You spoke about it in the beginning but you didn't explain it to your viewers here. I think the showed a lot of creativity in the way they make you remember the kanji meaning and the different pronunciations. Which is the hardest part for a non Japanese to learn, harder than Chinese who have only one sound by character (more or less, but what we think it is easier in Japanese than in Chinese, finally is not: the pronounce and the fact there is a way to avoid learning characters, it's not true, and Japanese kanji system is soooo messy :D) Over all, nice video and thanks for making one about Wanikani ;)

Whilst using the site I completely forgot about the mnemonic aspect of WankiKani :o I should have explained that part a bit more. I guess this is one of the problems when already knowing the language and not reviewing it from a beginner perspective ^^" I'll try better next time not to overlook these kind of important points or the resources that I want to talk about!

We are working on a big series (me and my wife) which will hopefully become even more popular then the quick grammar videos. It'll still take some time before that whole series launches though but an update on that project is coming soon!

3:18 This is one of my biggest issues with WK and other spaced repetition apps. They all seem tailored to absolute beginners and don’t allow me to study at my own pace. Even if someone has only attained an N5 level of Japanese, they probably don’t want to waste days (if not weeks) of time “learning” elementary concepts like colors or numbers.

Totally agree on this one. There should at least be a level check in my opinion which lets you skip some amount.
