I kind of understood when DKt couldn't beat Kokokushibo because Kokokushibo had killed himself and 3 Hashira could barely keep up with him But when he fought with Muzan, I think dkt died because Muzan gave him poison In the anime, he threw poison into Tanjiro's eyes That's why I think he couldn't beat it because of the poison If it wasn't poison Dkt would have defeated him Everyone saw it, Tanjiro defeated all uppermoons except Kokushibo and Muzan So if tanjiro didn't have muzans poison, he would have defeated him like the others expect kokushibo Everyone agrees on this.

Let me make this clear, tanjiro in season three could defeat upper 4s clones but at full power upper 4 would win, then season 4 is about him and others training, then during the fight with upper3 he got like two amps(i dont remember if he got red sword during the fight but i think not) so he was at leat low upper3 level. We know demons keep their strength theyhad when they were human, upper1 is a prime example. So given the fact he was at least low upper3 level and then became a demon( muzan was losing body mas which normally means he was losing blood as well so lets sat he received all od muzans blood at the time) he wouldat least be upper3 level if he were to gain control over himself and know how to use his breath and art, plus he makes a sword from his own flesh. So that is about how strong demon tanjiro was at the time but a little bit weaker due to him being out of control. Have a good day😊.
