Ooh, girl we have similar tastes. I love the moody tulips (Queen of Night) and Geranium is in my top 5 daffs. It's straight out of fantasia.

Your tulips and daffodils should look beautiful in spring! Love my Power Planter auger, it's very sturdy and made in the USA. Most of the time you had 2 hands on the drill except near the end of planting. A suggestion: I think it's important to use good technique since you are demonstrating the auger and drill. If a person is new to using an auger, reaching over and only using one hand on the drill, they could get hurt. Especially if one is drilling in clay or rocky soil.

This is going to look so good in the spring!! I’m still waiting on my tulip bulb order. While I was originally annoyed that due to the wait I’ll be planting in the mud in rainy, wet PDX, now I’m happy I can use your pro-tips on bulb planting and arranging! Hah! The timing worked out in the end. Thank you for sharing your expertise! 🌷

Yay! And yes… I never mind bulb shipment delays especially with tulips.

As always, great vid. I planted my tulips yesterday. I have the power planter auger and GAME changer. I don't need to bend over except when planting and covering the bulbs. Next is my giant alliums.

Man… I think it’s time to invest in a taller auger.

My first year of planting tulips & I’m not done. We had rainy weather that halted my progress. Maybe today!!🤞🏼

Kate- this is great! What grasses do you use? I need some small grasses!!! Please! ❤
@HelloGarden2 ай бұрын
What kind of sun exposure do you have and how big of a grass are you looking for? Happy to share my favs!
@debs-more-plants2 ай бұрын
@ I have full sun and would like some smaller grasses for texture. Building a new garden bed near the water in Des Moines- Sandy soil and maybe some salt… I’m not sure if that would affect grasses. Say 4 to 5 tall? 2to 3 wide? Thank you! Love your videos and style!

Would you recommend waiting after a couple days of rain to plant bulbs into the wet garden or should I wait for it to dry out some before planting my tulip bulbs?
@HelloGarden2 ай бұрын
I would, especially if your soil is heavy clay or holds a ton of moisture. Great question!

I've crossed tulips off my list. In the battle against tulip fire, bulb distributors treat them with fungicide. Handling bulbs and even being around planted tulips, increases our fungicide resistance. If we are exposed to particular fungi (some of which gardeners are at increased risk of, since they can be in compost), the resulting lung infection, Aspergillosis, is difficult or impossible to treat because our bodies have become resistant to the fungicides used to treat the illness. There are so many other bulbs, I choose those instead.

This is such a great, valid point! I’m super curious to research if there are certain vendors that do not treat them with fungicide.

@@HelloGarden a friend found a local grower in Chilliwack BC who doesn't, so they do exist. But most imports use them, apparently.
