Hi Hayley and Khoaula! Came across this video as I was searching for career advice in Process Engineering. It was very informative and gave me a better idea of the different roles process engineering can fall into. I recently graduated with a Chemical Engineering Bachelors Degree but am a bit lost on where to start and how I can get on a path towards Process Engineering. I am most interested in working in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries but I am struggling to find my first job post-graduation. Do you guys have any advice for a recent grad that doesn't have much industry experience? Is it possible to start from a technician role and work my way up to an engineer role? Thank you very much in advance! I really appreciate your video.

Hey Zakapa1000! I've only just seen your message - things have been a bit crazy what with the pandemic! I hope you're okay! Thanks so much for watching the video and I'm so glad you found it useful. You can absolutely start as a technician but if you have a degree in chemical engineering then you can go straight for graduate roles. Companies will be looking for "graduate process engineers" or "graduate chemical engineers". When we first graduated we applied for graduate schemes, a lot of big engineering firms have them. How have you been getting on with your search over the past month? Let us know where you're at with things and we'll be able to give some specific advice! By the way, I send out a weekly email with advice, tips and inspiration to engineers, you can sign up through my website www.hayleyloren.com I also do coaching for engineers if you needed any specific help xxxx

What is the difference with chemical engineering. Are they the same?

Coming from a senior in ChE (so little experience in the industry yet), but process engineer = job position/title. Chemical engineer = major/degree. Chemical Engr can be process if they want. Process engineer needs a degree in Chemical engineering but it can also be mechanical, etc.
