I actually have not purchased from the BLM myself, but I would recommend inquiring at one of the local BLM offices (not the national one). I hope this helps!

Actually any blm land that is on flat ground where houses can be built will be sold to the highest bidder, which means, the "public trust" part of the original reason the land was held for recreation for the public is now defunct and it is all for sale to the highest bidder, grab your piece of this wonderful land so that you have a place to recreate on your own property, other people who cannot afford to do this will have no place to recreate and they will just be the trespasser on your property.

Great informative video. Quite often I will be driving along with my family and look out the window thinking "I wonder who owns that hill over there with the great view?" likely, the BLM. I wonder what the BLM would consider an "Important public objective". I've wanted to open my own long term care facility for a long time....
