Cool. Thanks. My boyfriend has purchased several "fossil" excavation kits for me from Amazon (they're for children). They are prepared fossils buried in a plaster matrix. Very fun, very messy. Thank you so much for sharing.

Really enjoyed this one. Rare is the video that takes a fossil from start to finish and includes all of the "small dramas" inherent. It was definitely good to understand the disappointments (center possibly not preserved), the challenges (equipment failures; maintenance necessities), and the victories (shell damage successfully navigated; center actually preserved) in pseudo-real time. Thanks for putting this together.

So when you're removing material, can you feel the difference in the two structures, that of the Matrix and that of the fossil?
