You make good points, because, let's face it, most of us, probably all of us, aren't Jan Brett, LOL! But that's who I think of when I think of children's books illustration.

It is really tough to find pre-made images of characters with different facial expressions and in different poses. I have spent hours manipulating and adding to images in order to fit the narrative of my books. A much better idea, if you don’t want to hire an illustrator, is to decide on the broad subject of your book, find some broadly relevant images, and then write your story to fit the pictures. It’s a picture book after all, so let the available pictures dictate the story.

Yes. I thought that, too.

Thank you for the video! I've been toying with the idea to make a children's book for a while now, since I love to draw and am also a writer. I am thinking of making a Chapter book though, with mostly writing and an illustration or so per chapter :)

Thank you. I have 3 young grandkids might enjoy a book written by grandpa. Too late for Christmas but it doesn't have to be for Christmas.

I think that's a great idea. I am planning to write a children's storybook, based on a story that my mother made up for all her grandchildren.I want to write it for her great grandchildren most of whom she never met. Good luck with yours, I'm sure it will be appreciated by your grand kids.

What are you planning to use. I have 4 grandkids and I want to write a book using their pictures.

"Ma'am, I want to ask you, for children's book illustration, do we need skills in graphic design, or is there anything else we should learn? Because in this field, the client shares their story, and we have to create illustrations according to it. Please help me understand how to approach illustration in this context. You're a great teacher; I appreciate your guidance."

I have purchased graphics from Creative Market and love the site. But could not find license info on using graphics for book illustrations. Does that fall under Commercial or Extended Commercial License, And did u need to contact the illustrator for consent?

It’s very amusing how it is assumed that because an illustration is simple, it must not have taken much to achieve it.

What about the actual uploading of original art to satisfy KDP, any tips or tricks? Digital creations? This is vague. I need details, a walk thru.

Do you typically send a script to the illustrator showing where you want pictures? Or maybe send them a list of scenes?

When you purchase images do you own the copyright or do you have to name the person in the book as the illustrator or give them any kind of credit
@MyFreedomEmpire2 жыл бұрын
Everyone is different about how you can use the images, you should receive a license when you buy the images and it'll tell you there whether or not you need to include attribution to the illustrator.

Hopefully, if you are choosing to use an artist from a developing country, you are doing so because their work is good (there are tons of amazing artists in developing countries, just as there are in developed countries) and not because they are cheaper to use (USE, get it?). If you’re willing to go $500 (just an example) for an American (just an example) artist, then you find a Philippine (just an example) artist offering what you’d pay an/the American artist $500 for, and the Philippine artist is asking for a lot less, don’t be an a$$. Sure, save money. But, also, maybe offer them something between what they are asking for and what you’re willing to pay an American artist. Let both of you win.

Is this woman real or an Avatar? I couldnt help noticing the unfocused stare. Tone of voice is v flat. Also look closely at the picture of her at the end of each sentence it kind of jumps oddly.

She is looking into the camera. And for the jumping: It's called cutting a video. It's an editing technique.

You should not confuse stylistic choice with lack of artistic ability - those examples might look crude in some ways, doesn't mean it's easy to create images like that. It can often be harder to simplify something complex than to preserve its complexity.
