I am retired (63) and indeed everyday is like a Saturday and I love every minite. Not bored for one minute. And no I am not busy-busy-busy every second. Just enjoying the ride and am very thankful for this phase in life. Its the best. I never definded nyself thru work. I am me. Thats enough. "What do you do?" I do what I want to do each morning. Its called freedom. And I never get lost.

I love your channel and have been regularly watching it for more than a year since I decided to retire which is happening next month! I am an audiophile and am retiring to listening to music full time. I got divorced in January and am so happy! One suggestion for Mark. Why do you always need to bring up your dad whenever you have to give a negative example. This really stands out like a sore thumb. I am sure that we can give him more respect. Sorry, not preaching but have been meaning to tell you this for some time. Thanks for being an integral part of my life 🙏

Thank you for being here. My dad was my best friend and mentor for my entire life. I am a bit hard on him and it could be an underlying feeling that I believe if he had taken better care of himself he would still be here. For me he is a big part of why we started this channel. If he knew how much we all miss him and how we are hugging because he is gone, he may have developed better habits so he could live longer. Thank you for leaving this comment.

I have a problem with this Idea of Failed Retirement. Because Retirement is truly a Individual experience. What makes me happy and feel like my Retirement is awesome may make someone else feel like it's a failure. I retired very early and enjoy a simple quiet life with the freedom to do what I want. If I die early, I am already satisfied and happy. I do not want to live even one day longer just for the sake of others if it evolves being unhappy and suffering..

You can lay on the couch and watch TV for 2.5 years and do nothing. After 2.5 years your body and mind starts to decompose so you then have to get up and start moving about and explore a life style you want to live. Move to the country, move to the city, move to the mountains? move close to your kids, move away from your kids, ... You need a life. What type of life? Time to think and try different things. What ever you do for two years it will be great and then at end will want a new thing to do. RVing about 2 years. Restoring old cars about 2 years. This video has good ideas. So build a new life. This time no one tells you how or what to do. So rebuilding and reinventing yourself and your lifestyle.

Another great video....always appreciate your perspectives. My wife is a retired school principal, and I am looking forward to retiring from the nuclear industry next year. For us, we are blessed to live on a small horse farm and our animals demand routine (feeding morning and night, cleaning water tanks, moving hay bales, mucking stalls, exercising and riding horses, tending the goats, playing with our border collies, etc.). Physical activity is not something that is optional. It actually is a joy for us because we see the results and fruits of our labors in healthy and happy animals. The work is deeply satisfying physically, emotionally...even spiritually. It keeps us fit enough that we quit our gym memberships over a decade ago! We, too, share pictures of ourselves several years ago and friends remark how we look better now than we did back then! And we feel better too. So, the messages in your videos are personally compelling for us, and reinforce that we are doing many of the right things as we thrive in our early 60's.. Thank you!

Good advice, I’m 79, yesterday my wife and I cycled fifty kilometres in the mountains, lunch was a sandwich sitting on a bench. For dinner I cooked lamb backstrap with potatoes gratin and green beans followed by a bowl of mixed fresh fruit topped yoghurt. We are both into 3D computer modelling but we recently bought a gopro and a gimbal camera with a view to making videos of our travels, we already have a drone, so we are studying video editing. Make the most of your retirement.

Great video. I've been retired 3 years, my husband has been retired for 14 years. Some health issues are cropping up but I have planned as best as possible. I've been playing "catch up" on chores around our home, etc but now I'm moving into a growth stage of retirement. Definitely interested in learning some new things, maybe a language, volunteering, etc.

You are right about work place socialising and strain on marriage. More arguments with wife than ever before. Its better to back to work. But not for money, but rather to save my mind.

As always, very good info to think about. My reason to get up every morning is my dog who wants breakfast and a walk at 4 am. She doesn’t understand that we are retired 😊. Actually I enjoy being outside at that time of day as it is so peaceful. Also enjoy the fact that I will be going back to bed when we come in rather than starting a work day.
