Ana ! Thank you for making this video❤ I think a lot of people struggle with writer imposter syndrome and definitely for me it was saying my problems out loud that helped me and talking to people that also enjoy writing 😊

I actually do have a tip too! Let yourself be bad at writing a first draft. You can always go back and edit it later. Like, this is a genuine line from project vengeance: "They sit in a conference room, the shades drawn, an electric lamp buzzing, personify the lamp as keeping the meeting secret." No description. Not even a full sentence. It breaks the fourth wall- this is not a fourth wall breaking type of book. But guess what? I wrote SO MUCH that day, because I didn't care about getting it down perfectly, or even getting it down well, just down. I can edit it later, I could edit it now. Let yourself be bad- heck, revel in it. This draft is FULL of little silly comments to myself or reminders that will absolutely not be in the final work. examples: "[research toilet parts]" "...and two, Luka, um, doesn’t actually exist" "Hmmm. I’m not really sure if I know what’s going on." Taking joy in your writing keeps you writing! Be silly!

I feel so lucky because my parents are totally supportive of my writing dream, ever since I was a child. They give me a computer, books about writing, certain times at night when they just don't interrupt me because they know I either studying or writing. Sometimes, I ask my mother if my writing career doesn't succeed, what should I do in life. She told me to get a psychological degree (I want that) and become a therapist, since I love dramas of other people so much.

these tips are 💯 to add onto what you were saying, to all the writers out there that are doing this on the side while going to school, working, etc, keep going. make time to work on your craft, and eventually you’ll get to a place where you’ll either have more time to work on it, or perhaps even pursue it full time 😊 also, thank you for the shoutout!! i’ll never get used to hearing you mention me in your videos, and seeing my face pop up while i was watching this full screen was very unexpected 😂
@ananoir9 ай бұрын
hi, thank you for providing this video but please do not continue to work with better help. ironically, they aren't better help and have been known to be an awful mental health platform and the therapists that you claim are licensed aren't actually licensed, etc., multiple people have mentioned this in a previous video of yours where they recommended that you do not work with better help again and i would definitely advise you to take their advice. ❤

Thank you so much for this video, I feel like it's not talked about enough in our community! Fun fact: Leigh Bardugo was 40 when she published Six of Crows, so we all still have so much time to improve our writing to show it to the world

I am so fortunate to have family who is supportive of pursuing writing as a career, and I realize that many teenagers/young adults do not have that! If I could give any tip, it’s to talk to who understands your writing (whether they are your parents, friends, writer friends, etc.) They don’t necessarily have to be a writer, but they MUST be supportive of you! Have a blessed day everyone! ✨🌸✨

Okay first of all, great introduction. Like, okay girlie!! I need some essay writing tips from you 😂 Second of all, AMAZING video. Thank you so much. I've been struggling as well, maybe in different ways, but nonetheless struggling. I love videos like this. Thirdly, to those people who say writing is a "weird art form" I will kindly tell you to go and write an entire book, edit it more than five times and NOT give up. Come back to me when you finish it :)

Thanks for these tips! I really needed to hear them. I have been struggling lot since the pandemic because of self-doubt, all because someone told me I wasn't good enough to be traditional published and that's why I self-published my books. But for the past 3 years I have been trying to keep active in the writing community who has been helping me a lot in getting back into my writing and confidence again. I still struggle with the self-doubt, but I'm looking for ideas to improve my writing and to finish some unfinished projects that I stopped because of a writing slump. This year has been a little better, so I hope next year I can go back to my normal writing routine and write more.

I hope you know how much you’re helping aspiring writers. Honestly I’ve wanted to write all my life and was dabbling with it here and there but the imposter syndrome always got to me. I always thought I didn’t have what it takes. But stumbling across one of your videos made me actually start. Made me think it’s not so out of reach, it made my dreams seem closer. And now my doubts are eating me alive again and I stopped for a while only to see this video and have you motivate me again. Thank you so much.

Hi Ana I'm 15 years old and I'm wanting to write a series of detective mysteries but I'm just so lost I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing I don't even know the first thing about writing I'm literally just using Google docs 😂 I've been watching your videos recently and it's helped a lot but do you think once you've published your novel you could do like a brief video on your whole process like what website you used to write, where and how you got it edited and published? ( I would preferably not like to pay for those things but if I have to my parents won't mind I think.)I know you have already done videos like that before but I really need more help. You are such a big inspiration to me thank you so much for everything. ❤
@Ilovechocolate-y3d9 ай бұрын
I just want to tell you that google docs is a great place to write a book/story. It automatically saves everything you write, you can acsess it from lots of devices, ect. And with editing, most people jut reread there work and smt print it to edit it by hand, but you should do what works best for you. Hope this helped :)

I'm a young writer in a small community and have been struggling to find a community of other writers. I often feel alone and like no one really understands me and my work. I feel like I can’t open up to people and speak my mind cus others don’t relate. I don’t know how to tell people and how to find a writing community like you talked about in this video, Ana, where I can just write and rant about my book to other writers. I just feel so alone.

Ana, people have no idea how hard writing is or how much work is involved. Next time someone makes an ignorant remark, tell them how much work it is. Sometimes I can't stand people because of how opinionated they are! Lol

Don’t listen to people Ana. Writing is fantastic, it’s really a gift. Not many people are lucky enough to have a best seller. I’ve published six books, five children’s books and one adult book. My seventh book is at the publishers now. It’s fantastic I can’t wait to get into my hands. I get NO encouragement from my wife. I just go ahead. I’ve written sixty -six children’s stories in just a few years and I love every one of them. Just keep going.
