This is the war diary of a Soldier with the Name Rudolf. He was a tank gunner in a German tank and went 1941 to fight at the eastern front in Russia. What he saw and experienced is written down. This is brutal and hard to hear, but this is the true face of how these men went through the hell of World War 2.

They are now in the Caucasus region a couple hundred miles south of Stalingrad, but evidently not to the mountains. The Russian BT-7 tank sometimes mentioned was a 1930s light tank based on a US Christie design the US army rejected. A cool little tank, it had a medium length 45mm gun which was very good armament for the 1930s, and was better than the 37mm the germans put on the Panzer III into 1941, and better than the British 2 pounder 40mm tank gun used into 1942. But it had light armor only capable of stopping machine gun rounds. Even a 20mm could knock it out. It only had a two man turret. Still, a tank is ultimately about a mobile gun, and it was very fast. The BT-7 could knock out any german tank from the front at the start of the eastern campaign, that still only had 30mm of frontal armor. Even upgraded german tanks with 50mm or 60mm of frontal armor could be knocked out at less than 500 yards. But the Russian tanks were poorly used.

WOW!! Not only are they way down in the Caucasus region already, but if what he said is true, they've been in some really hard fighting and destroyed a good number of Tanks as well, others have won the Knights Cross for doing less. I would like to think that these Men have done more than enough to earn themselves some kind of decent Medals!!

Interesting and informative. Excellent photography job. Historians did a very good job presenting actual facts from fiction. Orator presented the documentary very well. man... that is WILD... It never occurred to me that one gunner would be fighting and moving between so many different weapons systems and equipment... like in a video game, "oh well I think I put down this Panzer III and pick up a Russian AT Gun!"

Dismounting and taking control of a Soviet AT gun, and destroying at least one tank, would get a medal in most armies. This while his own tank under control of his junior officer, destroys more tanks. This is what makes a great officer.

It's 100% authentic. Only the translations are done now but I strictly stick to the original.. The YT channel owner has the handwritten diaries and has showed them during live chat in the past...
