Might be a little out of the channels area of focus but how about a prequel. Let's look at the Muslim conquests. Then you can do a sequel and look at the Mongols coming in from the east.

I am extremely pleased to see attention brought to the almost absurd logistical challenges being put on these people. Really does their intelligence credence too, wouldn't want a moron handling that much supply. Say nothing of direction and organization of a multi cultural, multi lingual army going 3,000 miles across coldly accepting to outright hostile lands.
@Onomatopoeia4u2 жыл бұрын
And think what we could achieve if we put that kind of intelligence and ingenuity to a good use.
@krystinaland41372 жыл бұрын
Yes much easier to be the occupying army and defend thier land then the invading army. This is the same idea in the American civil war. It was believed the confederate army would win because all they had to do was defend. However, as you state, logistical challenges exist and that was the Confederate army's reason for defeat. The union army had the telegraph to communicate battle maneuvers and transmit the enemy's location while the confederates did not have telegraph lines put in and had to rely on man on horse back mostly and civilian Intel. Sry went on rant. Love this stuff.

@@krystinaland4137 The confederates most certainly used telegraph lines. Sure there were times they didn't have access, but this applied to both sides, as telegraph lines were easily cut, and some environments were too harsh to implement them. But there was nothing extravagant about the telegraph that made it unattainable by the southern armies. It was a new technology, yes, but also a simple one.

@troydodson96412 жыл бұрын
Fanaticism doesn't hold to just a religious aspect. Oblivion would be to say we have entered the point of no return, when many people today live if not happily, quite comfortably. Humanity has learned, ask someone around you to cut a pigs throat, or watch a person's neck break on a rope. People from every class across multiple nations banded together despite the cultural barrier to defend the recently split Orthodox church and/or reclaim THE religious icon, Jerusalem. While it wasn't perfectly done and relied on the psychology of the unknown and pagan 'them', it was extremely well done considering the time period.

Both yes and no. Life is not black/white. Religion and spirituality is not pure bad or good, it all depends on this...wisdom. Humans always needs some form of spirituality. That is the only thing that will not chsnge. However....HOW we practice and interpret it is not easy. And yes, bad without wisdom. So, we are on a path of learning how to use our inherite spirit/uality. Personally and en masse. Forever ongoing 😅

It wasn't scriptural Christians who conducted the crusades! It was the Catholics! Did Jesus ever go to war to kill those who refuse to believe? Did Jesus ever disparage and insult or hurt the people that didn't believe what he taught? Did Jesus ever try to shove his teaching down anyone's throat that had a different belief than him? Did Jesus ever incite an insurrection to depose the high priest and the Sanhedrin? The answer to these questions are absolutely not!
