IMO WaW was darker than Black Ops. I also think World at War was a better game and felt like something more than just a game- an insight in the brutality of war and soldiers mentality shown in the chronicles of the WWII. Black Ops to me felt like a game and a game only

@@SuperPeanutlover78 both definitely had their different atmospheres that gave it so much strength, world at war was portrayed as grim, harsh, and serious look at war and how it takes its toll on you. Black ops was more of mystery, mistrust, and sacrifice for vengeance, and how nobody is ever truly straightforward especially those you call friend. Both of which was done very well.

THIS is what Call of Duty is. Remembering all of those that sacrificed. The ending is just perfect, with the somber music showing the Enola Gay (the plane that dropped the atomic bomb) taking off and flying towards Japan, then cutting to the Hiroshima blast....mixed with the speech at the end. And finally, showing how many people were truly lost in WW2. No other CoD could ever achieve what they've done here. Thank you for playing this.

While Hitler's SS Honor Guard were certainly present at the Reichstag, the majority of the building's defenders were foreign SS troops, Kriegsmarine sailors, and Volksturm conscripts. "Downfall" is perhaps one of the hardest missions in CoD history, as on Veteran difficulty you spend most of the mission dodging and throwing back grenades. The version of the Soviet Anthem in game is the 1970s version, the 1944 version had lyrics praising Stalin.

Played in Veteran difficulty and I got stuck on the Final Balcony for hours because literally the last Germans were just shooting and throwing grenades from everywhere.

Excited for the Black Ops (2010) lets play. I remember my final day of Primary School (10 years old) 1st July 2011 my friend was allowed to bring his Xbox 360 into class and we hooked it up to the massive CRT TV in the classroom and everyone took turns playing Black Ops all day while the class had a whole party. Pretty sure he brought in RDR (2010) as well another game that just released a few months prior at the end on 2010. It's wild to see people playing World at War as their first Call of Duty, but it's really cool. Years back, I’d say most people would have jumped into Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007) and played through the Modern Warfare trilogy first. Some people I've seen started with Call of Duty 2 (2005), a game that holds up extremely well. But I rarely saw people play through World at War (2008) as their first CoD game until recently with the release of Black Ops 6 (2024).

COD4 installed on my uncle's PC, it was my first COD. Though this was somewhere in 2012-2013. The grenade "tumble" sound and the wind noise when you die is so ingrained in my memory. But when I played Black Ops 1 I was so engrossed that in the mission where you took your patrol boat down the river to search for the cargo plane, once I saw the infantry at the sides of the river, and the helos too... I got a literal nosebleed like it was just that awesome. Sometimes I wish I was there for the glory days, especially Black Ops 2 but I was more into RTSs than FPSs back then and I'd probably be a different guy today

Shuri Castle and Downfall are 2 of my favourite missions in all of Cod history. I still get the chills in those final scenes where Dimitri plants the flag and then we get a very real speech from General McArthur a true war hero. What he is saying is the truth and it echoes to this day as we are on the bring of WW3! War is awful, it should not be glorified and peace and understanding should govern Mankind not hatred. THIS is why WAW has the best campaign in the cod franchise. You don't have to be political to understand or appreciate history. Oh and the dome as well as that column are new, they were indeed destroyed at that battle. And the planting of the flag was done by two Russian soldiers in real life.

Outside the Reichstag you are actually supposed to go the ladder in the destroyed buildings where there is sniper rifles. You continue to provide sniper support until the rest move up and then you join them. 24:07 those places exist all over and that's where the enemy troops spawn from. 28:25 you are being shot by a MG42 if you had shot him you wouldn't have had such a problem and there are 4 of those rifles up there, or more. Plenty of ammo.

That whole Reichstag battle isn't easy for anyone on any difficulty, that's for sure 💀 and yes, World at War does lack character development, but from now on you should feel much closer to your fellow brothers in arms! About BO2, personally I think you should play it right away because it's a direct sequel to BO1 and I think you're going to enjoy it better that way, but in the end it's not that much important Also, when you start Black Ops 1, look for Intel itens in each mission (big boxy tape recorders scattered around), as you collect them they will unlock intelligence reports for each mission that provide more details about characters and events (I'd also enjoy seeing you read them at the end of the video)!

1/3 of Black Ops 2 takes place in the 1980's and Black Ops 6 takes place in the 1990's, and the characters and story are very much tided together. As a veteran of this series, I suggest Black Ops 2 before Cold War and 6. Cold War, and by extension Black Ops 6, are made with the assumption that you've played Black Ops 1 and 2 beforehand.

Black ops 2 takes place in 1986 to 1989 during the final years of the First Cold War, and final 2025 . So ideally black ops 2 is set after cold war but because of the 2025 bit it would go something like this chronological wise World at war Black ops Black ops cold war Black ops 2 1986 to 1989 Black ops 6 1990s Finish black ops 2 Black ops 4 specialist mission optional Black ops 3 Or you could just complete black ops 2 all at once

A bunch of people have played this game and seemed to miss the theme that they are just as capable of turning into the same monsters the Japanese, Germans, and Soviets were during the war. If the grenades are your biggest problem you'll be fine with the next games :) WaW is infamous for its grenade spam, which gets worse with every difficulty. The other CoDs aren't nearly as bad with the grenades.

Nice playthrough! World at war was the best Call of Duty I ever played. Btw you have a nice smile, also about the real battle in the Reichstag, the last defenders were foreign SS from Latvia, and Nordic countries and some Wehrmacht Army and Naval Infantry, most of the defenders actually withdrew more into the interior of the building and to the basement and fighting was close quarters and hand to hand like you seen at 25:14 The Red Army finally captured the Reichstag on May 1st 1945.

This mission has the enemies wearing iron cross medals and the heavily injured, to show that they WERE at their last forces possible. Which those injured shouldn't be on the front lines unless the empire was on it's very last legs

With BO2 I feel as though they gave way too much power to just one guy, it seems a bit unrealistic story wise and his motives for doing all of this a bit extreme, but that's just me.

I understand that older Call of Duty games focused more on the sacrifices of the many instead of one particular person, and that's good for historical themes, because great things usually happen from collaboration, but when telling a futuristic story, making it more character-focused works better. So, telling a story of a few exceptional people in the midst of a geopolitical crisis is interesting to me, especially when the game goes out of its way to establish that who the heroes and villains are is a matter of perspective.

"Nazi Zombie" in World at War is SCARY as Hell, creepy noises, creepy standing, creepy ambiance, IT WAS GRWON BREAKING for 2008. Today years have pass : -"Nazi Zombie" is no more, its just "The zombie of [INSERT STUDIO NAME]" -It was still creepy until the last map ("MOON") on Black Ops 1, then now its not that really scary... -The most "welll knoew zombies univers" is from the Treyarch debelopement team, the other studio are most likely "surfing on the sucess post World at War / Black Ops 1 / bLACK OPS 2 Zombies" -The "Treyarch Zombies univers" knowned at "Th Aether and Dark Aether Univers" are the most INSANE and EPIC STORIES SO FAR, with a better multivers than Marvel in my opinion... -The "Original 4 men crew, from the Aether storyline" come from World at War campaign caracters, Richtofen the German, is the General Amsel that we kill in the mission "Vendetta" / Takeo, the Japenesse his the very first men we saw in the first mission of the game "SemperFi" / Nikolai is Chernov's model / Dempsey is Polonsky's model -Even if you don't like "Zombie" i really advice you to check out a bit some "Lore" / "Lore vids" or even traillers, they are usually not that very serious and are mostly gross and funny like the mode right now -Of course "Zombies" are coming back in Black Ops 6 and they are mostly gonna continue the "Dark Aether storyline" (the "Aether" one has been finished since Black Ops 4 or Black Ops 3 if you don't like the Ending of it in Black Ops 4 like me...)

Welcome to the world of COD: Zombies through World At War. Quite a surprise, I bet. After a chilling WW2 campaign, that bonus mode spawned a whole community spanning across 10 games after this one since 2009. Nacht Der Untoten is the first Zombies map. I think you would love it if you played it more, especially around Halloween time. As a Zombies expert myself, me and possibly others in these comments can help you with the basics of that mode if you'd like to get into it. One of the best zombie game experiences you'll ever have. Glad you enjoyed World At War for telling a unique, realistic story of such scale of the most tragic time in history.

I know you have a reaction channel for watching movies and tv series. After this playthrough, I have to recommend the Pacific miniseries as a watch. The reason? The miniseries follows the same Marine division as in World at War, the 1st Marine Division. And yes, they do cover both Peleliu and Okinawa.

The difficulty in CoD Black Ops games will ease up a bit from here on. WaW was definitely brutal and at times, a bit unfair and unbalanced. Ironically it fits the theme of the game being a showcase of the war machine chaos that was WWII. Looking forward to the future Black Ops games

Timeline order as I understand it: - WaW - BO - Very first mission of BO2 - BOCW - Flashback missions of BO2 - BO6 - MW2019 - MW2022 - MW2023 - BO2 - BO3 Though, there has been quite a bit of debate whether or not BO2 and BO3 are 100% confirmed canon or not.

Honestly you did pretty good, I never played this one myself. (I was a Playstation 2 guy, we didn't have an XBox or Call of Duty for it). But I played plenty of the Playstation 2 ones, and you did much better than I typically did on these missions. I usually ended up dying five or six times at my best. You usually average three or four per mission.

It suffers from all the old CoD cliches: endlessly spawning enemies until you move to the next location, dumb AI on both sides, all enemies are really only shooting at you, and then the being able to shrug off gunshots and bomb fragments by just waiting a few seconds in cover. I find the Brothers In Arms games more satisfying, because you only have to deal with a specific amount of defenders, and you can control your squadmates' movements to suppress and assault gun positions etc. The AI is more intelligent, and you can only take so many wounds in each mission before dying. I still prefer the WW2 setting to all the cold war and modern war iterations where you are forced to play the bad guys and they're constantly falsifying history, pinning US war crimes on others, and justifying war crimes, torture, executing civilians for being in the way etc. But it would be better if different combat locations had specific numbers of enemy soldiers to get through and comrade AI was better.

The music becomes progressively more disturbing throughout this game. Almost like the loss of humanity is progressively lost amongst the participants of the war. It is a true horror story.

I believe it was last video you said you felt like you struggled a lot more with the American campaign. I think part of that is because the American weapons had like a ton more recoil than the Russians and I think that threw you off, but I could be wrong

Glad you had fun with this! If they made the single player campaigns longer, I would be more interested in playing Call of Duty games. Can't blame them for concentrating on multiplayer because they make so much money off of that. Liked how they mixed in the real news clips from the WWII era!
