Ok, here's my analysis :) There were some vehicles that survived several of your 88mm shots. The T-34/57 at 7:18 didn't die in the first shot, actually if you look closely with that shot you killed the guys in the turret and also damaged the gun breech and destroyed the gun controls... so irl that tank would have been disabled, however in War Thunder the crews swap positions and you can repair those damages... The first Jumbo Sherman died in 2 shots at the center hull (1st shot didn't damage him very much, only killed the driver, mg gunner was already dead), the Soviet M4A2 76 (W) died in one shot in the turret, thats ok. after that we have another T-34/57 which survived 2 shots in the turret (first only killed the gunner, the second destroyed everything else in that turret, again IRL it should have been disabled). Same for the 105 Sherman, your shot only killed his gunner and the rest went "green". The KV-2 one is an interesting shot, as your shell got into the gun recoil system and breech, completely destroying them but just that, i guess thats fine, since the shot went through 90mm of armor and then the massive 152mm howitzer gun mechanism... imo it should have blocked the 88 shell as it did in the game. Crew and tank safe, however at the cost of being neutralized for good, as that kind of damage can't be reparied IRL... Then you took 2 shots to side probably from the IS-1 (85mm) first one entered your turret, as your turret ring was destroyed and your commander and gunner wounded, the second damaged your engine. I dont think a Tiger could take 2 85mm to the side, go back to repair and keep on fighting... The SU-152 bounced your shot through the mantlet, but then you one shot him, thats ok (you were really lucky that the SU-152 wasn't reloaded, it wasn't called the "beast killer" (Tiger, Panther, Elephant) for nothing *phew*). Then you took an APCR shot from the T-34/57 which killed your gunner and pierced up to the engine compartment, aftwerwars a second 57mm shot killed your driver and knocked out the engine... but in 6 seconds someone took the gunner and driver positions, and you could keep fighting, at least for a couple seconds until the IS-1 finally exploded your fuel tanks. My conclusion: *The high survivability of the tanks is within the game design and it affects everyone, both against and in their favour (Your Tiger needed three 85mm shots and two 57mm shots to be taken out, for example)* In another note, will we see you driving the Panzer IV (german army workhorse ^^) or the mighty StuG III in these events (the most succesfull german AT vehicle in number of kills, you gotta hear the StuG life call! :P) ? I think it would add variety aswell challenge to the matches ^^ also would be more according to reality, Tigers were only a small part of what rolled around there ;)

Super Étendard Good assessment, I'd have to agree with pretty much everything stated. As for other tanks, I've been meaning to mix it up a bit more so I'll try. The issue is that there are no vehicle limits so you end up facing only the best tanks.

Tiger always seems to get a vital part destroyed in the first shot from the enemy (turret ring, gun barrel, gunner) and usually takes more than two shots from the tiger to do a critical on the opposition. It's really frustrating, and not reflective of the real world. And yes I know where to aim for weak spots.

Personally I think it was a bit of an aggressive move for a lone-wolf run. You could have easily survived with with a partner, but thats hindsight. You can never go wrong withe the tactic of "fire and move". You where holding your own fairly well but you got flanked early on, no good way out of a flank. Then you got overrun. Basically you should have ran like a little girl lol, you stayed there too long really. Once you saw they had more guys coming, you should have called for backup or just pulled back. Its a Tiger but its not invincible. Many of my battles have turned out like this so I feel your pain. Thats why I always try to pair up with someone every game. Thanks for the upload, always a pleasure to watch.

I wouldn't have stayed on the bridge near as long as you did. The moment I saw more than one tank to the right, and especially once I saw the KV 2, I would've backed up. Had you backed up just a bit to say the edge of the bridge on your bank, and used it as a way to cover your left flank, it would've been much harder for the guy on the left to flank you. You could've still engaged the guys on the right with impunity and if someone tried to take the bridge they would've had to drive straight at you. Of course, by doing this, that guy on the left probably still would've flanked you, and as that SU 152 got behind you, guys were flanking on the right as well, so you were in a position of damned if you did, damned if you didn't. That's really the only flaw in that game in my eyes. Everything else was about the best you could have been expected to do, and honestly if I were you I wouldn't beat myself up over it. Everything that happened afterwards was because your ass was left in the breeze because you had no team around you. You could have broadcast your position to your team in chat and warned them of all the tanks, but you never know if they'd actually support you or not.

Yessin A It really isn't at its BR, but in the hands of a good tanker it can kill many things. I usually go into squads with an IS-4M to kill Maus tanks in it.

whats you're opinion on the simulator mode now? is it now on a acceptable level for you're preference of realism? + i think the US is with the USSR purely because they're own tech tree is to small atm. I think when 1.49 comes out with US TD'S, US will be separate then. id really like the mechanic of a psychical commander model, being out gives you a 360 degree view with the binocular option. bud leaves the commander exposed to machine-guns, shrapnel, shells etc. being in the tank gives you a simple 360 commanders hatch model, looking though the ports like in real life. once the commander gets killed, then you cant peek out anymore, putting you on a disadvantage the whole game.

Yessin A Sadly no. The damage modeling is still a mess and crew eats shrapnel for breakfast. Needs historical optics, matchmaking and a lack of respawns. (I'd be okay with reinforcement waves) or objective conditions. Not sure what's going to happen. Again if they want to call it a sim then it needs to act like one, otherwise I suggest they change the name to something else.

SideStrafe both good ideas, commander unbuttoned, and authentic gun sights! With commander unbuttoned though, would need an animated figure to be seen from the enemy's view, so they could perhaps also target him for mg fire, to knock him out, and thus as you suggested, now limit the tank's view options. As for authentic gun sights, not only would that be nice to have, but could also help realism more, because you would also have to set authentic zoom ranges as well. That would mean some tanks could see farther, and others shorter ranges. Might even help a touch in regards to the use of ultra low graphics users (and I primarily point this at those with high end machines that use that as an unfair advantage over others, and not slamming those who have lesser systems and honestly need it just to be able to barley play WT)

I hate the fact that there can be no teamwork in this mode. If you win or lose the match is basicly luck because nobody knows what is going on and where your teammates are. I think it would be better if this mode would feature friendly target markers on the map or atleast some other kind of way to show the locations of your teammates. Like this you just get flanked all the time because you never know if your teammates have your back.

I feel like sometimes when vehicles get shot but not penetrated the crews bells should be ringing for a few seconds. Like a stun. The time would be based on what calibur gun the shot.

For me it's always really hard to tell what shape my own vehicle is in unless I use the in-game Xray thingy. So just watching you play I can't really tel very well about your vehicle. In a way, I kinda like how it's abit random. I know that under ideal circumstances the crew would just get out if their vehicle was significantly damaged. But to me there are alot of parallels with terminal ballistics involving people, so it's difficult to predict exactly.

You'd stayed alive for as long as you could and took down a nice number of tanks. Perhaps if you penetrated that ISU-152 with your first shot, you might've been able to turn around in time to deal with the IS behind you. Still great game tough;)

Does the crew health get reduced as you progress from arcade to realistic to sim? If it doesn't then it really should. I don't really find the vehicle damage models to be all that bad but killing the crew in one shot almost never happens in my experiences. And yes I'm firing the standard AP rounds, not the various HEAT and APCR rounds. Also, you should try carrying 5 high-explosive rounds for soft targets Sidestrafe, it really helps killing flack vehicles.

I played a game yesterday in this mode with a Tiger H1, got 11 kills myself and 2 assists, 10 out of the 11 were 1 shots on healthy tanks too. Yet we still lost. I died in the end as a sherman got took out my gun and it was 3v1. I almost got annoyed at myself for allowing it to happen but sometimes you do far more than your part, but when your team just all die within the first few minutes, it's not likely you can take the entire enemy team yourself. So I get what you mean.

Yeah, I was the Hetzer Hetzing and later on the JU87. I wasn't paying attention to the map spawns, I was hoping to get to the other side and find some solid cover. I believe once I crested the bridge, my driver or something got knocked out to where I couldn't move, else I would have reversed. I got killed within two shots. Overall, I wasn't on the best streak of games and had been playing for nearly... 10 hours straight. My head certainly wasn't in the game. >w

Are we talking about those tanks that are immune to everything except 85mm APCR from the front and can penetrate all T-34's and even IS variants (before calling BS the IS-1 and 2 have cast armor on the front so it is 5 or 6% weaker than the raw thickness would suggests.) while soviets need to learn to maneuver warfare and look for side shots.

Kaspar Kallin There is a reason why i did not mention the 122mm gun since that is the only one and to a lesser extent the 100mm d-10t that can provide reliable penetration to hulls ( KT still immune tho) But the 85mm that is tacked on to everything has trouble penning tigers and cant pen panthers unless you fish for the turret shots or get a lucky HE shell.

Side strafe. This might be an important comment to read. Ever since after patch 1.47 I have experienced invisible tanks planes and fops drops when I first spawn in. I've also seemed to have spotting problems becuz I was in my bulldog in a arcade battle and I couldn't see an is2 across the Poland map in the middle of field. It also happens in jet combat when I don't spot them till thier in gun range. I have no clue why but these problems need to be adressed immediately. U said thier was a patch that fixed it but to me it made it worse.

is it just me that get kinda pissed at this event when I see Tiger H1 only getting standard AP shells with 100mm pen at approx 500 meters... when IS (of same BR) get APCR that can do 150mm pen at 500 meters? I mean.. IS can oneshot a tiger, tiger shots will bounce IS.

That bounce on the SU-152 was nuts. Unlucky, though expected. But honestly from my time returning to WarThunder from the US tank patch I find Russian tanks take more hits to knock out then anything else. Maybe it is poor luck, maybe it isn't. But with a damage system like WarThunder uses it really isn't so cut and dry. Should that T-34 have died with the first hit on the turret? Maybe. But maybe not. There are just too many things the game takes into account on what counts as being destroyed.

Because of the 88's velocity the shot over penetrated hitting nothing on the way through. HE would have been best in that situation, of course you'd have to go through a reload cycle first. The only effect that shot would have on the quad is it now has 2 drain holes to let the rain out 8P

I think many of those shots you took I think would have killed the crew outright. One in particular going through the turret and bouncing shrapnel through the entire tank, and somehow everyone was only injured... o_O BUT, if the crew was as weak as in reality, there wouldn't be much of a game. And I think you've mentioned such things before anyway.

I think we can only know for sure how DM works in a testing field. To me it feels alright. It's just very punishing when you can't spawn or exit the game instantely when you have no more spawns. That's the biggest complaint for me on how post-mortem the game shows you your demise.

Actually the turret on the IS1 is a weakness ... its only 100mm of flat armor ... I think you where just unlucky and hit at a funny angle. Regarding the damage models I think they are quite okay becoz you can't really expect to have 100% simulation in a game, the game needs to be balanced and fun so I think the current damage model is a good trade of between full realism where almost each penetration would result in a kill and an more lenient system. I think it should take a maximum of 2-3 shoots tops to kill a tank in WT unless u hit the ammo rack of course and this is what's happening right now so its okay.

You mentioned the Tiger as basically the only choice in that BR/rank to use. But hasn't the Panther been shown to be better due to it's higher velocity 75mm? Just curious.

Normally I stay away from Sim Mode because I think many devs you the word "simulator" to hide the fact they can't make a proper, functioning UI or they can't really develop a game concept. My expertise lies more with torpedoes than tank guns but it seems to me that with the hit that IS took the main gun would be knocked out of alignment at the VERY least. And the insane destructive power of the Russian guns is (IMO) modeled to the absolute ideal rather than the historical reality. The same with the laser like accuracy of the 152mm and 122mm howitzers on the Russian SUs, ISUs and KV-2. There is nothing satisfying in being one-shotted by those monsters from across the map while on the move. Similar arguments stand for the American M-3 cannon and the 105 howitzer. Too much laser like accuracy and unrealistic penetration from ANY angle.

Sadly .. if your TEAM had coms with each other , you may have beaten the enemy Hands down .. but that how it goes in a game that NOBODY Plays Historically.. On the Eastern Front, the Russians had their own tanks and US/British Tanks vs the German tanks .. so that In-counter could have happen..... O_o And yes the Dreaded 88, should have KILLED all the the Largest Enemy Tank with 1 shot, but then what kind of a game would it be, if you just get into the fight .. and your dead with 1 hit ... As for the Tiger getting hit from the SIDE by the tank that KILLED you ... (Not sure what enemy tank it was) but Many Tigers (Panz VI) were hit on their side, many times , crew only Bailed as the SOUND of the Enemy tank Rounds was so LOUD in the Tiger, ...

That was an IS-1 that hit him square in the side. That was basically a guaranteed penetration. Also, it should not have killed all of those tanks with one shot. SideStrafe blew the shot on that IS-1 and it bounced off the turret. That is what should happen if that round strikes the thickest part of armor an IS.

Ladie From Hell Uhmm no...there are numerous accounts of Tigers engaging other tanks and either over penetrating or only doing slight damage to the tank...The 88mm was a good gun but it was not the god weapon that you are making it out to be...I mean there were Shermans that were engaged by Tiger 1's and took several penetrating hits before being combat ineffective.

Spawn killings are back, a team full of bombers/attackers dived on our spawn. I just quit this mode because of this crap and ofc the low quality advantage.

There is some intense gameplay right there. :) You got lucky. You should have died. The thing is that repair time is too short therefore non realistic. Also crew survivability is a big problem. Your gunner woke up just like that after being shot at. And that Sherman you were shooting at over the bridge. Each one of his crew probably had hundreds of shrapnels all over them but still alive.
