It's kinda a shame that the Iran development of Sidewinder missile known as Fatter seems shrouded in mystery. It would have rounded out the line-up of Iranian air-to-air missiles.

Doubt it would be good tho for sake of variety, it should be added. But its just a reverse engineered AIM-9J with unknown tracker and apparently 40km range tho thats dubious at best if u look at its size, exactly same as basic AIM-9J. Even AIM-9X cant reach 40km and it sure as hell has a lot better tech than Fatter.

@@fennoman9241 40km is probably some kind of a mistranslation. It would appear that ingame test articles are currently armed with AIM-9P for SRAAM. In the meantime I need to practice boom and zoom with my Skyrocket 😆

Idk why germany didnt buy the F-14, (I wish they did because I main german air) The F-14 performed better than the F-15 in testing in Iran, because they burned more fuel on the Tomcat making it lighter, so dogfights were easier for it. The Shah of Iran preferred the F-14 over the F-15

Price, the f14 was even pricier than the f15, also political pressure, it seems west Germany, Japan, and Canada showed interest, but politics came into play and bids never went through

It's a really expensive aircraft. Put the main price aside, it's maintenence is also too expensive. But still when the revolution happened, Iran tried to sell the aircraft. Some countrys showed interest such as Turkey and Canada, but it's still too expensive and never selled. On the other hand, F-15 is slightly less advanced at the time. But it's a little less expensive with both buying and operating.

Actually there was no buying spare parts or anything, took them a year/year and half to do some reverse engineering and make those spare parts by themselves and they finally succeed thats why they couldnt use the F-14's during the first year of the war
